So... I simply install ONLY the games I'm actively playing and usually launching every day. That way the wait time is minimal (obviously still depends on the game) but not as bad as all of my games updating at the same time.
This is more of an issue in the context of wanting to run a specific update/version of a game or wanting to remain behind on updates for 2-3 weeks to keep using community content additions and accessibility mods. Carpel tunnels an absolute pain and a lot of stuff isn't playable without 3-4 mods that make changes to things to reduce click counts and button spam.
New updates also often require changes to mod managers and that will fairly often lead to corrupted save files or items.
YUpdate at launch is your best bet. Though keep in mind the uopdate scheduler will stagger updates, only really focusing on the games you're actually playing alot, and scheduling your less played games to instal at a later date.
Right clikc ->Properties
Updates-> automatic updates -> High Prioirty auto-update this game before others
Games that don't require an update can be played during that time updating of other games is paused.
Looks like i'll be looking at alternatives to steam then.
I know origin has the same problems. Best bet is probably just to go back to .exe's and shortcuts at this point. Already has to be done for some games that just don't run properly even in single player without consistent internet connection.
Besides it's not Like there are that many games that update that frequently, especially not with gigabyte+ uploads..
