Is it possible to run two different games but only control one of them?
I'm asking this cause I'm on queue for one game and I'd like to play another game while I wait. The problem I'm encountering is that when I run both games, I control both games at the same time. Even though, one is being focused. The other game that is not focused is still being controlled.

I'm using a controller by the way.

Just wanted to know if it is possible to control only one game when running two.

Just alt-tab from one game and you should be able to control the other one.

Didn't work. Like I said, one would be focused while the other is not and they are both controlled at the time.

Perhaps I should add that I am using a controller.

I think you controller is probably seen as a mouse in the other game. Controllers can act in weird ways, also, make sure you have selected the right controller in the Steam setup/options.

If you use your keyboard and the problem persists, there must be something wrong with your settings, otherwise it must be your controller and you will have to play only one game per session.

u can run 2 games at once

yes ur controller will control the minimized game

but just use mouse and keyboard so this doesnt happen

i run tf2 and uno at same time (play uno while waiting for tf2 match)

i use m+kb

i notice too when i use my controller it controls both games

So far it is not possible to do what I am asking according to you two.
maybe plug in 2nd controller
with xbox controllers they get detected as controller 1 and controller 2 and so on

set 1 game to use controller 1 and set other game to use controller 2?

What game is so ♥♥♥♥♥♥, you need another one to actually have fun?

To answer the original question - no. Steam Input has a major issue right now that it does not disable between apps, and even if you manually disable steamInput for game A, and you use it for Game B, game A&B will use the settings of whatever loaded last.

To answer "What game is so ♥♥♥♥♥♥, you need another one to actually have fun?"
VRChat, Chillout VR, social platforms that aren't games. When you just want to chill with friends and play other games, it's annoying as hell when Steam Input isn't respecting your settings.

This thread was quite old before the recent post, so we're locking it to prevent confusion.
