Adult games and the Steam API

Hello,

I recently tried to get some details about games marked as "Adult Only" on their storepage via http://store.steampowered.com/api/appdetails. But when doing so, I only get this:

as a response.

I am not entirely sure why this is the case. I have three guesses as to why I don't get the details:

1. You cannot access adult games over http://store.steampowered.com/api/appdetails at all (which is the least probable, otherwise how would SteamDb work?)
   
2. Regional restrictions also apply to the API
   
3. You have to be logged in when talking to the API, similarly how you cannot view an adult games storepage when not logged in

Can anybody tell me which of these three guesses apply?

it would appear this is caused because you are making the request from an german ip.
I tested this:

you would need to use a proxy/vpn to get around this or find a webhost that isn't hosted in germany and set up a script to make the request for you then you can make a request to that instead.
