GAME PASS working on STEAM officially, soon??
I've heard that Microsoft and Valve are negotiating it. About 25 million people worldwide sign Game Pass, but most on Xbox. On PC, not as many. And many who play Game Pass on PC still use the "play a non-Steam game on Steam" tool here. So that's a possibility. Personally I like the idea, I hope they make it happen soon.

ask microsoft about game pass, they are the ones that decide if something is coming to steam or not.

as for play a non steam game, that is simply an option to launch a game thru steam, it does not grant it any of the features that steam has like steam achievements, card drops, etc.

I have heard that the moon is made of cheese. game pass is not happening unless microsoft or valve release a statement about game pass being brought to steam. people love spreading false rumors.

Yes, I launch fan games like Tomb Raider 2 Remake through Steam. About achievements, they must be unlocked on an Xbox account (I haven't signed Game Pass yet), but if Valve and MS do business I guess they'll be unlocked on both platforms. But I don't think Steam cards or badges will work, they're only for purchased games, not for temporarily autthorised (the case of Game Pass list).

Microsoft hasn't said anything. GabeN did say, "...and we'd be more than happy to work with them to get that on Steam."

Indeed, I watched a YouTube video from few days ago saying that Game Pass and Steam's partnership must be close. Hence my question.

Journalism at its finest. Take what was said and change the context (make a rumor that it is happening) to get people to click on their videos and news articles. And they get more ad revenue for all to share.
Wait until something concrete is said by GabeN, Valve or Microsoft. Don't take a journalists rumor as the truth until it has evidence to back it up.

I hope we can use gamepass on steam, when we already own it. I have 3 years of gamepass sub left, and i rather play the PC versions on steam. Right now i only bother with a few games on pc, which arent on Steam already.

Watch it happen just like EA and screw you out of some EA Origin exclusive and separate memberships for each Steam and on Origin. :laughing_yeti:

I never said it was a game journalist, which I don't take seriously especially after they defended The Last of Us 2 and its undeserved GOTY award. It was just a gamer like you and I, filming from his bedroom, he scrolled some articles and said he hopes it's true like I say now.

Me too. I left PlayStation because I'm sick of its censorships, prices and limitations, now I only play PC Steam, but if a game is here and on Game Pass I prefer to play there. I only buy here a game I know is there if I LOVE it, like Hellblade, Killer Instinct or Age of Empires 2.

The thing about this I'm very much looking forward to is for things like Hitman 3 or Warhammer Total War 3 where I own the first 2 on Steam already, so I'd either have to play on gamepass without my content or buy them on Steam despite already having access to them via gamepass.
Case Mar 2, 2022 @ 10:13pm
I am against as it is a step forwards making Steam access subscription based, and BELIEVE me, all of those passes are an overly attractive introduction to that, so that people oppose it less. When everything is subscription-based, devs will start to be forced to adjust the content according to the platform's worldview policy, games will drop out because of reasons, and you will only have access to what you already have as long as you continue to pay. Any such official cooperation is a step you WOULDN'T WANT knowing what the follow-up will be. And it will be so - they already wanted to make Windows 10 subscription based, but it didn't work out - they have however turned MS Office into a subscription version already. It's all going in that direction, but they need to do it in such a way as not to raise too much suspicion, so it has to be gradual.

Microsoft made Game-pass so cheap because they want to attract more players, so that they can compete with Steam and get some market share, same as Epic.

If they bring game-pass to Steam, they will lose their primary objective. :steamfacepalm:

Actually, Microsoft doesn't care what you play or where you play it, as long as the Game Pass logo pops up at some point. All the money is in services and Steam is just another storefront to put that service on. They've already said they'd put GP on anything and everything. Also, companies have realised making smaller amounts of money, but gigantic guaranteed piles of those small amounts really add up - see microtransactions. The pull of the Steam store will net Microsoft loads more subs.

Valve gets a share as the host, but everything else still goes to Microsoft and they get free advertisement on top. It's why EA Play is now all cosy on Steam. Microsoft wants to create attachment and engagement and after that, they can sell you anything. Companies want to be an indispensable part of your existence now. Valve is only selling you a Deck so that they can sell you more Steam.

This isn't 2010, the days of fighting over shiny plastic boxes are very much on the way out.:steamfacepalm:

Really, watch some of their recent press events and read the releases - they say the word "cloud" like it's water in a desert.
