Steam Deck LIMITED release
I don't really consider myself in the market for a Steam Deck but regardless I wonder why Valve never do global releases. Not on the Steam Deck and not on their VR headset etc. I know there could be many reasons for this but most companies can handle global releases so its just a bit wierd that Valve doesn't. Microsoft xbox, sony playstation, nintendo, oculus and many more are examples where they do global releases. So doesn't really make sense that Valve couldn't.

The thing is, even tho you can only get it on here, people still have to wait ages to get it so doing a global will take even longer so right now I'm sure they are focusing on their own customers first before possibly expanding bigger but tbh I don't know either.

Yeah it seems they do have their hands full with the orders they have already recived, but from a business perspective it just seems like bad logistics and a missed oppertunity for revenue and growth. But I guess Valve don't have any share holders to satisfy so maybe they are happy with doing things smaller scale with less risk.

Valve is a much smaller company and they manufacture the units themselves, I believe. So, it’s a much smaller operation compared to Sony or Microsoft.

This has been a pretty good launch. It’s organised, no scalpers, no queues, no refreshing pages.

Edit: Oh, Valve is a private company, so shareholders don’t dictate decisions - Gabe is very much in charge.

Probably the sole reason is that the stuff they sell wont sell better if it is offered at some other places.
And distributing it only trough steam means for Valve that they don't have to give a cut from the price to the resellers and only pay for the storage space/Delivery partners (which could be the same).

Because Valve has been in the hardware market for a few years, and their products don't sell millions like nintendo, sony, microsoft etc. it's not easy to distribute the product elsewhere and also not cheap. Also they need to build there own network of suppliers. It takes time and knowledge.
However they do know how to sell software everywhere not like Nintendo for example

There is a interview with Gabe Newell about the Steam deck in IGN.

already checked ebay yesterday. and unfortunately there are scalpers on q1/release day with units up for sale and confirmed shipment details listed on their posts. quite a bit of them. so a little bit dissapointing for sure.

but what can you do ya?

Doesn't make any sense at all. The Steam Deck is a good bang for the buck but if you make it more expensive there's way better alternatives on the market.

Patent and trademark laws most likely. Supply limitations as well.

A nd what those global releases do is basically means you have more people in more countruies trying to snag limited supply. and again issue of patents and trademarks,

Some ppl r greedy. I literally could make out on the order of one of them their entire first and last name, steam name. And their full mailing address they tried to block out. As well as their order number.

Completely saddened by folks who think that taking advantage of folks is ok in a shortage time like this.

And the sad thing is what if they need help with their device, can't really get warranty if it isn't their account. Not that I believe.

But I'm not going to post their info to valve or anyone. Bad enough you can see it all on ebay. I'm sure karma will catch up with them one day.

Steam deck failure handheld, the price are not worth it. I think 256GB version too expensive, look better buy PS5.
The controller design are bad in Steam deck right analog same high with left analoh, and XYAB button same high with right analog, screen size same like Nintendo Switch it's bad, resolution 720p, play with 30fps.
Trigger button place look weird, uncomfortable play with Steam Deck.

I'm not interested about Steam Deck, this will be failure product like PS Vita.

There is little doubt that steam will release the deck to other countries, there are interviews even stating their intention to do so. Consider the countries that are receive the deck as Beta testers while they work out the kinks in the supply chain, production, and software.
