So, will we be able to play free games simultaneously? Same question with games that both of us own. Thanks
If the person you share a library with cheats you might get a ban as well.
Family sharing wasn't meant for friends...
I think so, it seems to work for me - I can play games on my library on my PC, while a second PC / account that is family sharing from it, plays the same game that is owned on it's library.
Seems to be working just fine - each account owns the game, and both are playing it on separate accounts and PCs, with family sharing enabled.
Not sure why anyone would think it wouldn't work, since each account owns a respective copy.. should work for free games too, since each account would have their own copy.
Yes if i family share with my brother and HE owns Saints Row 3... AND *I* own Saints Row 3... even if we are Family Sharing we can both play our own copy of Saints Row 3 simultaneously.
We can both play *any* games from our OWN libraries simultaneously even while Family Sharing.
It only limits if *I* play one of my brother's games then he cannot play his own games.
But he can play his copy of Saints Row 3.. while i play my own copy of Saints Row 3. We both own our own copies of the game.. us playing them does not effect the other's ability to play? Why would it?
So this means that if both libraries own game G, but one library owns game A and the other library owns game B, then the first user playing game B and the second user playing game G are not allowed to happen at the same time.
It's one of the quirks of Steam Family Sharing, and one of the sillier ones at that.
You can try having one of the people play with Steam in Offline Mode. So for example the second user should try playing their game G offline. If that doesn't work, you can try running the game without Steam running at all. If that doesn't work, you're kinda stuck.
If you want digital games to be able to used around a household the way physical copies of a game can be used, you'll need some sort of DRM-free copy of the game. Some Steam games are DRM-free (hence running something without Steam running), though you can't really get reliable info on this from the Steam store the way you can from some other stores.
Omg what a mess to explain something but i think i got the point. Let me check if i got you right, we JUST can play simultanously in one scenario. we both own the game in each library (free or pay to play) and want to play THAT game, in any other case we will not be able to play each one in him account? Sorry for my ♥♥♥♥♥♥ english...
If you both own one game, then you'll be able to both play that one game, but if you both own one game and you want to play another game of theirs, then that doesn't work, from what I understand.
Yes, if you both own it, it doesn't count as shared (since you both own it) and as such you can both play it at the same time.
Think about it.
Star Wars The Old Republic can't be family shared because it is kind of code that doesn't allowed it and locked to your account.
Family share is your own risk too. Make sure your friend or family are trustworthy.
