steam anti fraud when
afaik steam dont use 3d secure to complete transactions, atleast it didnt on my 10 year experience with multiple accounts and ccs, while its enabled, even some sketchy sites use 3d, anyway here is my question.

lot of people using stolen credit cards on steam platform to launder money, even it got on news, but i dont think steam cares about how dirty can their platform be, i even saw a PUBLIC group that shares stolen CCs on STEAM. Reported them but month later they still on air, i knew they dont care about them but i did my best.

i know steam got some anti fraud features like locking account like 2 weeks or idk maybe they advanced it, but they dont work. someone needs to tell truth. just delays scammer to get their money later.

why steam cant/dont use 3d, just because its international? i dont have much info about how 3d works. so anyone with info feeding me would better.

i know this is not just platform end, but mostly at user end. people should be more careful about data they gave.

They lock accounts permanently for fraud. The payment methods are also blocked forever.
If the bank or credit card uses that additional layer of security, for purchases with those payment methods, it will be used on Steam as well. If they don't use it, Valve isn't just going to add it if the payment method doesn't support it.

my cards def using layer of security, it sometimes asks for a code from bank when ordering 10 dollar food but never got a code from steam, it just instant, maybe if i used it few times it reduce my fraud score, idk again.

Don't save the payment method.

This is the #1 reason why credit cards get stolen online

as far as i know, those extra verification only takes place when an unusual (for the user)"transfer" is tried to make (or so).

I actually saw it only happen once for me to ask for the visa secure/3d verification.......on the other hand, i usually use paypal with the card (if possible) which does not trigger it.

You know how I know you're full of it? You think you can launder money on Steam when steam wallet funds literally can never be taken off of Steam.

How would they launder money through Steam ?
Refunds are issued back to the original payment method, so it's not through refunds.
Steam wallet funds are not able to be cashed out.

So, how would they possibly launder money using a stolen card, if they can't get any cash or money transfers out ?

they dont launder with steam funds, they buy skins and when you manage to took skins out of steam platform its really easy to do, lot of sites using p2p system to buy/sell skins for real money

How is that Steam's problem? Steam isn't running those sites.

steam is rooting it by not making secure transactions, and they dont give enough attention to their fraud department, items are bought from steam marketplace at first

I had to provide 2 TANs every now and then, when using my CC on Steam.

you can even find lot of articles, videos about the same topic, dark side of steam marketplace and game skins, here i can give you guys few link if you want to listen or read.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PsHkmJGi038 (dark side of steam marketplace, 2020)

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BFmBT_Avf48 (2021)

https://www.pcgamesn.com/action-henk/action-henk-g2a-piracy (“Torrent my game instead of supporting shady resellers, I’ll even give you the link,” says game dev)

most game developers are aware of these fraud trend, but its not up to them to reduce this, "shady reseller" this counts that strange resellers on g2a, which g2a got even darker background than steam.

Steam cannot know if a credit card has been stolen - that would have to be the issuing bank. Transactions are always secure as per PCI standard. Trading using 3rd party sites is already against Steam's ToS / SSA
