"Posts needs to be at least 3 characters long."
Hey, today I noticed that making status updates in the steam activity feed is not working anymore. Even if I write something into it, paste a link, or anything, I'll always get this error message that doesn't let anything get posted.

Something went wrong while displaying this content. Refresh

Meh, it's still happening... At least for me.

Fortunately this is just a case of routine maintenance, and not Bill Gates censoring me when I tried to poke fun at a conspiracy theory involving him!

Yea, still not fixed.

I found a workaround this problem. A status update will get posted if the user tags one of the games they own.... Maybe make your normal post and then mention a sentence about the game you tagged?

Issue still persists normally.

Wow, still persists!
Vaccine... I mean fix maybe next year?
I am currently getting this on my activity page. It was fine yesterday and now today: Even if its 40 characters.. has to be 3 characters long error message.

Been a bit over a week since I posted this and nothing. I haven't seen other posts nor do I see where else this could be taken to. It's also been a few weeks since we were able to see who liked posts in the activity feed aswell.

There have been other posts about it.

I noticed the like thing too I wondered why it didn't say "including" anymore.

The "who specifically liked" was removed.

I can't really figure out what changed but it would appear valve no longer accepts appid to be 0 anymore.

setting this to any other invalid appid (example would be appid 1), will result in you posting a status as you would normally do:

go to the activity page, open console.
add the content to the status_text and paste the code into console and press enter
reload the page.
$J.post( 'https://steamcommunity.com/profiles/'+g_steamID+'/ajaxpostuserstatus/', { sessionid : g_sessionID, status_text: "test", appid:1 });

EDIT: I would assume that would be the normal appearance of how it would have looked like, as i can't really recall ever using the "post status" feature before this.

It seems to work if you tag it with a game but other then that it don't work.

damn that's a shame. Really hope they don't remove this feature on purpose.

Messy-sloppy removal of a very useful feature related to freedom of expression? Sadly that absolutely sounds like Steampile, the eternal beta (and also more generally web app design and general societal trend).
Remember when they removed the screenshot presentation for non-Steam games in the activity feed? This might be the next step in restriction.
