Why the hell does steam refund take so long?
I don't get it at all ! I was approved for a refund ( I used a Steam gift card code and that is what I used my steam wallet to purchase a game ) So if my refund was approved hours ago why the hell is this taking so long? I can understand if it's a refund to a credit card which could take days but this is YOUR OWN CODE! YOUR OWN GIFT CARD it should be instant instead of saying ( Pending ) for 5 hours now........ I don't get it at all.... it's your own freaking code on your own client ! so irritating what the hell.

YES I am grateful that they offer refunds but in this FAST technology age and getting a refund from their own gift code should be instant if approved.

Because it's not only down to technology but also contracts and red tape.

You might be waiting upwards of two weeks.

OK so? it's already been approved so as soon as it's approved if it's a STEAM CREDIT used then it should automatically be put back into your account. If they can get it to automatically say ( Pending ) for 6 hours they can set it up to automatically go back into your steam wallet. There is no excuse in this day in age
Well, we don't know what happens behind the scenes when a game is purchased, so we can't know how much of this happens out of necessity, and how much of it happens to tell you "be more careful on your next purchase".

Complain as much as you want, Steam isn't going to care. So, you could just as well relax and do something other than working towards a heart attack.
Isn't it obvious? they don't want you to refund, so they make it annoying enough where you won't do it willy nilly.
I don't think you know how much steam user are...
Ever think work ata customer service ?
Theres like +15,000,000 Online right now...

No excuse, or you just don't know all the details so have decided to assume all the bits that aren't visible to you are BS?
Steam has various fraud prevention mechanisms in place

Note that from a liability perspective steam wallet represents the highest liability and thus represents where the most protection and fraud prevention takes place

Otherwise hijackers could hojack accounts, “refund” games, and immediately use the funds on the market to scam users

Also note that various account actions like recent password resets, will also trigger higher delays in refunds as again fraud and scam prevention

Horsepoop. Your snide insinuations are entirely divorced from the real and practical situation.

ACH is bullcrap, it's also how transactions are currently handled. Valve is a United States based company, so they are beholden to these bullcrap, bizarre financial constraints.

It is not some sort of game, and you are arguing in bad faith.

This is one of the stupidest statements I've ever heard. SO someone hacks your steam account where they have NO ACCESS to your full credit card / bank info yet they are somehow going to refund your credit card / bank account and use that money on the " market " ummm ok .....

OH NO someone hacks your steam account and refunds games and buys you more games OH NO so when you finally get your account back you have new games to play or steam credit in your wallet. OH NO !!!!!

It’s amusing you call others “stupid” when you’re not reading what’s going on

You want immediate refunds to wallet

Again wallet funds can be used on the market

Credit cards can’t

Scammers are not buying games

They’re buying expensive items on the market and reselling

Market transactions are NON REFUNDABLE

That is one reason when wallet refunds take longer since they can be used as a non reversible way to extract funds and value

Youd be correct...
Except not really, Steam is one of the easiest places to get a refund ive ever seen provided you arent abusing it to demo or something.
When you make a refund request = ticket, means waiting for approval of refund.

If approved you be notified about it.
- If back to credit card, or bank transfer can take 2 - 90 days to be refunded depening whom you're with for service that process the transaction for incoming, and out going. Support can help, other than inform you that it's refunded, the issue will be the service you're using that need to look into it either if with credit card company you contact them for help, if bank transfer, you contact them for help, but Steam can't help beyond telling you it was sent, and that's about it.

- If back to Steam wait, normally after 24hrs of approval, or upwards of 7 days, base on the system, if exceeding 7 days then you contact support for assistance, and look into resolving it, as this be in Steam support control.
