Steam Gems, Boosters and what are they for?

I have some items that I can seel and turn into Gems I don't know which one to do, what are gems for? Can I turn them into Steam points to buy backgrounds, profile pictures ect.? Can I turn them into money or they are useless? What are steam booster packs and what are they for?

So many questions but little to no answers. :(

u can store 1000 gems and then sell it for wallet money in steam market , u can only sell 1 sack or 1000 gems in the market
Booster packs are obtainable by spending the required amount of gems on it or buying a game that has trading cards , you can use those to level up ur steam profile and each 10 level grants u a profile showcase

No ! cards and gems are for steam lvl, selling and trading them.
u get steam points by buying game and in game items.
u dont get steam points if u buy from market !
