How does steam handle cloud saves when offline?
With the deck coming out and no doubt users swapping between their main rigs and their decks, how does sync work offline? Does it sync any and all files the moment its back on a network, or does each game have to be launched again?

not a problem steam syncs automatically when device goes online but imo its better to keep saves separate so you know where you left off in each device lol

use alt accounts for different devices in conjunction with steam family sharing so saves dont get messed up between main rig, laptop, and steam deck
i have 5 accounts
1 for main rig in bedroom
1 for lappy when i go out
1 for slimline home theatre pc
1 for steam deck/tablet
1 for potato pc in kitchen

I think my goal was that I WANTED saves to sync, not to keep them seprate. If I didn't want them to sync id just disable steam cloud as opposed to whatever you cooked up there? Like its a one button toggle to disable it system wide.

you get a message prompt thingy that asks if you want to keep local saves (offline) or the latest cloud saves from online

local saves and you click upload to cloud
cloud saves and you click to download be sure to always click upload

Maybe for some games, but ive got ones id like to keep synced. Hopefully lutris gets some syncthing intergration cooked up to make syncing non steam games less tedious. Should be able to use the data from gamesave manger.

So long as I dont have to launch each game on deck again once im home to get them in the cloud, then that works for me.

Hopefully for the deck they add some sort of sync ui that tells you all syncs in progress and if everythings done. (maybe even a save manager for the cloud?)
