Then go to a different store front. Steam taking 50-70% isn't normal and sounds like an issue with your system itself considering most users will see less than a couple % of cpu usage from Steam just running.
You know you should see a doctor about your reading and attention problems. But perhaps you will actually see the problem with your answer when you read your response AND my actual post again at least a couple of times? Not really having many hopes though. You also might want to read the topic and then perhaps will be able to connect the dots... Then you might find out we are talking about TWO programs... Smh
What does that have to do with this topic? Make up your own discussion and don't use others' for that
if i am on activity i use less than .05% cpu
if i open up a game... steam rises a bit then drops back to under 1%
the game pinball fx3 is using around 24% cpu
opera with 12 pages open is using under 1% as well
i5 cpu
i found this.... it may be helpful

Cool story bud. Maybe you can remove your head from your 4th point of contact instead of adding extraneous text to whatever you're rambling about and then wondering why people bring it up.
Wow, you really are hopeless. I'll just ignore your messages now and actually read those of people with a brain and intelligence.
Thank you. I will check it out
Steam uses 0.0% of my entire CPU, and maxes out at 0.1% of my CPU. The higher a CPU is use is for Steam.exe; the weaker the cpu likely is. Some games use Steam itself in addition to the game for whatever purpose (services/anticheats etc), others use purely the game itself. I just loaded a game; Steam CPU went up, obviously to access where it is, once the game began to load its EXE Steam went lower, went up when accessing the inventory for that game which uses Steam Inventory, then back down to 0.0% to a maximum of 0.1% again, with the game running.
So it depends on what the game needs from Steam, and if it's using anything to communicate to/from the game and Steams services, or other 3rd party programs it may need etc.
Also try being more civil to people, you may find not receiving help based upon your attitude and responses.
First of all, I was and am civil to people as long as they are so themselves. I am thankful for help but will not take ♥♥♥♥ from people either. I just asked something and was looking for help, not for smart arse comments. People hiding behind anonymity and being rude, smart arses etc are just annoying. And there are far too many of them.
The comment of DWS was neither helpful nor asked for. If he wanted more information he could have asked, like you did. If he considered my question beneath him then he could have just stayed away. Getting into other people's business or conversation isn't polite either. It takes two to tango, and I certainly didn't ask for it. Just saying...
So. After clearing that, thank you for your response otherwise, especially by asking follow-up questions when you deem them important to help.
I have a i7-7700 with 24GB RAM, a 1080 GPU in a pc that is around 4 years old. Except for one memory stick breaking the pc seems to have worked well so far. Usually steam is not taking 10-15% of the cpu usage away when I'm playing any game. Except Civ now at least, though I didn't and don't check regulary when things are working fine.
