is custom desktop logo a virus?

hey i saw a app called custom desktop logo basically it allows you to put a crosshair or any logo on desktop but i searched if this is a virus but i couldnt find any one talking about it i just found ppl saying can you get banned using it bla bla bla but i want to know if this is a virus also dont report me for "hacking" i still didnt install the app

it won't help you much to even have that for 1.

2 it will most likely get you vac banned as a false flag for cheating, but you will never be able to prove otherwise , so that's not a good option.

All in all, i don't see how it could be helpful at all to anyone.
Not worth the issues it brings.

When you download it your AV will flag it I checked it to test if it's virus

wow its like telling somebody to drink soemthign and telling him that his stomach will start vomitting and hurting to flag the liquid as posing. Your AV will have a good chance to identify soemthign as viruse but not always and msotly not fast enough to prevent all damage.
IF you want to check if it is a virus with AV you need to have a virtual machine in a container and download to that.

well said.. a decent Anti-virus can help mitigate damage and risk, but it is in no way a sure fire way of making sure potential infections don't hit your PC.. they run off of definition's after all..

if you want to check something to see if its malicous or not, you are better off using more secure methods..

No it's not a virus. It's a program that was made 10 years ago by request. The author made the program based on said request and uploaded it to wikidot. It's open source and as such the source code is publicly available to further assuage any doubts.

That being said, if you choose to download it from somewhere other than wikidot, you would want to ensure the host is reputable.

Now will it get you a Vac ban? Well it employs function hooking to hook into Windwos API, which is the same thing some programs like fps counters (FRAPS), voice overlays, and hardware monitoring software does. Vac does scan for hooks naturally, but only within the game engine and client. So, based on that I see no reason it would.

However, I suppose it is possible the program is outright blacklisted, but when this is true Vac deauthorizes your session (i.e. you get kicked) rather than a ban occurring. Ultimately though, I wouldn't listen to anyone who told me x program was safe for Vac servers, so maybe you shouldn't either and instead live by "if it's not necessary don't run it. =P

ewwwwwwww that guys desktop has stupid stat things on it, why would anyone want to ruin their desktop with stuff like that....
