Random messages are meaningless
-If you don't link your Steam to discord, it's a random-chance scammer
-Even if you DO link your Steam to Discord, a random person messaging you means nothing.
They will often say that you need to do (something) to not get banned, which is usually buying keys off-site and giving it to them to "not get banned", showing them your purchase history (so they can see if they can scam you), or sending them items to "inspect" which is you giving them skins/items for free and they're done with you and the scam is over, or they may try to do more. In other cases they'll want your Steam Login (NEVER GIVE YOUR LOGIN TO ANYONE) or to login to a specific site; DO NOT DO THAT.

-Often scammers will link you to a real steam staff persons account
This is to get you scared to push you toward giving them something they want, so you "wont get banned". Keep in mind it's like someone sending you a YouTube link; anyone can send a link to anything, doesn't make what they link to valid for the matter.

-Reports or people saying they reported you are meaningless.
Anyone can report you for anything. Steam investigates actual reports against your account, legitimate people almost never say they reported you. If Steam finds a violation they give you the punishment without warning. They do not say they will NOT punish you if you do something, nor will anyone from steam contact you.

-Support does not communicate about other peoples accounts
Support will not give Person B information about Person A's account nor communicate to either party about the other. Support will only help Person A with Person A's issues. Scammers just try to get you to fear losing your account.

Do not listen to random people messaging you about your account
Nothing they say about your account is valid, anything from Steam will come as a Notification on your Steam Client. No steam staff or employee will EVER message you directly either. So random people are to be entirely ignored.

It's a scam. Block them and report them to Discord for attempting to scam you.

It comes down to either they want to log in your account to "fix" something or you are led to a website with a fake Steam login mask that gives them your name, password and auth code. Then they rob you.

Just stay as vigilant as you are.

If anyone contacts you to do with anything regarding your account, it is a scam. Steam Support are the only people that will contact users and this is done within the Steam client through tickets or notifications.

Scams on Discord are rife and common things like 'illegal purchases, accidental reports' or where you are advised to speak to an 'admin' are all old scam types designed to scare you.

Just ignore, report and block anyone that does this on the respective platform.

I'm smart enough to avoid

Only the pictures?
Well they still would need your log in or something. Or lead you to a fake login mask. I think you are fine.

If they would have your login data, they could login and push you out of the session. You can, to be sure, just change your password.

I figured that they would lead me to an external site to keylog my password since they asked me to log out of the account and I figured that was to be their next step. Im just glad I caught it in time and Ive since changed the password and logged out a few times just to be sure. An added bonus for anyone else reading this in the future - GET THE STEAM MOBILE GUARD - If there is a login from somewhere else it'll ask you for a code to put in only from your personal phone, so you'll know its a potential hacker.

Some French guy named "GableLife" sent me a friend request so I Googled "random French person found my steam account" and found this thread. Not even 5 minutes later, they messaged me about the "accidentally reported for illegal purchases thing". I sent them a link to one of the answers in this thread about how they're trying to scam me, and they immediately unfriended me.
