The Steam password reset reCAPTCHA seems to be the most difficult one I've encountered.
When I reset my account password earlier today, I found the reCAPTCHA was acting suspiciously weirdly. I think I got the initial captcha wrong by mistake, and with subsequent attempts I kept clicking on the right boxes and it kept reloading another challenge, before eventually giving up and telling me that I hadn't passed the captcha. Most of the images also appeared to have had grain intentionally added to them and were taking a very long time (5-10 seconds) to fade in/out, which I haven't encountered before. After I failed about 10 times in a row it blocked me from trying again for several minutes, and when I was able to do so, I chose the alternative audio captcha which I passed on the first attempt.

reCAPTCHAs on other sites currently work normally for me, and most pass just by clicking the tickbox, so I don't think this is to do with my IP address. Steam say that the difficulty of the captcha will vary depending on what you're trying to do, so can somebody confirm if it's been set to the highest security level for the password reset page, rather than it being an issue that's only affecting me (on many sites reCAPTCHAs don't challenge me beyond clicking the tickbox)? This would be logical as Steam accounts are a well known target for hackers and bots.

The site is really messed up. I was unable to login the website yesterday morning. I made the mistake of thinking my account was compromised and tried to reset my password. That logged me out of the App etc. It was a real bear trying to regain access to my account. The site kept giving me the run-around. Recaptcha was misbehaving. I finally was able to get access after a gazillion attempts. I was logged in all day. Last evening, I was logged out again and tried to login onto the website. Same errors. App still works. It's got to be this website. It's frustrating that there is no way to notify Admins of the issue.

The captcha acts up every now and then.

A captcha should be designed to fool a robot while allowing a human to complete it within 10 seconds or so, not 10 minutes+.
