Epic & Co. - Relent already

Hi,

I own 570 game licenses on Steam by now. Mostly, because I've already had so many and I like the idea of having all of them on one single platform.

Sadly, you're running out of content, though!
Kingdom of Hearts, Keba, the new Oddworld... just to name a few games I'll probably buy at Epic's soon, unless you finally relent!

I hate the idea of exclusive deals, but even more I hate not to be able to play the games I want to, or always have to wait forever.

EA tried to make you understand that your 30% are rip-off, now are Ubi and Square Enix.

And to be really honest, I perfectly agree.
I don't see how you deserve those 30% anyway - every SINGLE time I've contacted your support I was told to rather contact the publisher's suppport instead. You don't host game servers, and your implemented Voice chat is so great, that we're using TeamSpeak or Discord anyway.

Last but not least I truly wouldn't grudge developers, who indeed put work and money into their games, more than just 70%.

It's the base version and you can't buy the DLC and/or upgrade to the "ultimate" version.
It's better than the "broken" Steam base version that was in a humble bundle, but other than that you have to buy the full version if you want the best version. It's better to spend $16 on sale then mess with this "free" version unless you want to get the base game to try the game out.

Can you elaborate what was wrong with the humblebundle steam version of control? I got the game from HB and its actually the Ultimate Edition. Not sure whats supposed to be missing.

The key from Humble only activated a base version of the game. It's still named Control Ultimate Edition in the library but it doesn't have the content that comes with the Ultimate Edition. You don't see it on the store page right now, but during the Humble offering they listed a non-Ultimate base game option.

If you only redeemed the Humble key from a few months ago, then yes. You won't have AWE or The Foundation expansion DLCs.

Well here's the worst part. Unless 505 re-opens the sale of the DLC on the Steam store page, those of us stuck with the base game will not have an option to upgrade it to the Ultimate edition no matter what. It's about the worst marketing decision I have seen in a long time.

The Steam base version has bugs and requires a constant online status,,,no offline...

The Epic version doesn't have those issues...

You can't upgrade either version to the ultimate version and the DLC was only sold on Humble at this point I'm unsure it's still for sale...

You misread my comment - it is free on EGS and you can get the season pass AND DLC, currently 50% off.

Seems the only place that hasn't given control for free is Steam, I didn't get the HB offer, I didn't even know about it.

And the ignorance on here - free games are in most cases the base game WITHOUT DLC.

That is the case in most of the launcher offers I have redeemed.

Protip - They give you the free game and are just asking you to buy a bit of DLC if you choose to, which if you have any experience of DLC - isn't probably going to relevant to the main game or worth it.

Protip - this is also usually the case with bundles. Are you going to complain about a $40 game for $1?

Good Lord - complaining that you are given a base retail game and might have to spend $7 to complete it when it would cost you $60 to buy the ultimate.

Wow 505 sucks. Why aren't they fixing this issues?. This game is on GOG so why the need to be offline?. Ridiculous.

Yeah. They left steam because it suited their goals and business plans at the time. They came back to steam because it suits their current goals and business plans..

Both decisions are motivated by the cold hard calculation of: "We'll make more money this way."

And this is how it is for Valve. Valve had no hard feelings ttowards EA and MS when both pulled out. They basically waved, bid a fond fare thee well and went about their own business. When they came back they welcomed them with a smile and and asked "Will you be taking your usual seats?"

It was 70% off when I got the gold edition on gog.com.

I "test" free games from Epic, if I like them I get them on gog or steam.
