Steam censors common-words in spanish

I'm a native spanish speaker and I can't write "deny" in spanish (n e g a r) because steam thinks im trying to write ♥♥♥♥♥♥ even while having steam in spanish.

I just found (maybe it's something somewhat recent) that the past simple form of the word "to put" in spanish (p u s e) is also censored.

I agree it should not be filtered on the spanish forum but it requires for it to be filtered on the english forums or some will use it in a different context and claim "no it means deny".

Contact Steam Support and ask if it can not be filtered on the spanish forum.

I think it's reasonable to recommend finding an alternative word. Sometimes things like this happen on a forum that supports multiple languages.

I think it's more reasonable to just ban the people who are clearly misusing the word rather than telling an entire group of people they have to change their own language. What a ♥♥♥♥♥♥ thing to say.

Thank you. That was all I wanted to know. English, especially American English, uses a lot of words interchangeably, while many other languages do not, they have very specific usages, meanings, and contexts for use.
I appreciate an honest and civil response to my question.

It seems the word is caught in an attempt to filter other english swearing. Not the first time it happens as it's also filtering 'negro' which is quite common and harmless in spanish.

Yeah. although synonims they're not conveying the same idea. Using any of those words as synonims od 'deny' is sure to raise some eyebrows.

The filter also affects other parts of the Steam community, like the Steam chat, where we cannot measure the extention of its use.
And as a spanish speaker I can tell you it's a fairly frequent word. Which makes obnoxious using synonims.

I've suggested the wordfilter could have a usage counter so we could know up to what extent a certain filter is useful or even triggered. To weight the cases where a specific filter does more harm than good.

The filters [edit, lol] still catch niblets ( N i b l e t s: a Green giant branded name for frozen corn kernels) and nibblets ( n i b b l e t s: a name for certain types of bird food and dog food in small pieces). Not sure why, neither word is a curse word or a slur, but I suppose some people found ways to use it badly.

Nope. It's not a literal translation of deny. Deny (n e g a r) conveys the objetive action of not accepting something. Repudiar implies the party commiting the action showing displeasure/disgust.
I can deny something while holding a straight attitude.
-Here google tells me "repudiate" actually exists in english... Anyways.

Show me where I said they should? I asked if a different word would convey the same meaning and context.
I don't speak Spanish natively, or fluently. I have only basic "conversational Spanish" learning. I can't learn more about the language if I don't ask about meaning and context, with answers given by native speakers, who would have a better knowledge of that.

Yes, but they quoted my post, which on the Steam forums indicates they were directly responding to my post, not to another one or the original thread topic post. Lol, back to context and meaning, and potential misunderstandings. I honestly hate nested conversations on reddit, but I do understand why they are there, to show very specifically who someone is responding to and having a conversation with.
