Does Steam keep track of hours played when in offline mode?
I like to play offline and want to know if steam keeps track of hours played offline. Does anyone know?

interesting... it says no... if you do not have a internet connection

Offline Mode is what you'll be using if you don't have any internet, and no, it does not track hours. If Steam has connection to the internet but you've just set your Friends list to "Offline," then it will track hours, even though it says you're offline on your profile. It still does "not sync" up at any point though.30 June 2017

Does Steam Offline count play time? : Steam - Reddit

Yes but it doesn't show it to you. It is used by support to spot refunds outside of the 2 hours.

What happens if you play offline then uninstall steam and all of its components, then go online and reinstall?
Including hidden files of course.
They have no way of tracking anything happening on my computer if I erase everything right?

What can I request a refund for?
Valve will, upon request via help.steampowered.com, issue a refund for any title that is requested within 14 days of purchase and has been played for less than 2 hours - >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>this includes online, offline<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<< and shared library playtime. Even if you fall outside of the refund rules we've described, you can submit a request and we'll take a look at it.

They do tend to spot abusers wishing to play games offline, finishing them and trying to refund them.

If you wipe your local data though...what info are they gonna use if you legit don't use an internet connection though? Not local files, no active internet, means no sneaking in tracking data.

Valve should clarify a lot of things better, while making sure to avoid hard limits like they already do.

Would also wonder if it is even more difficult to track if done in a VM that constantly gets deleted and set up from a scratch OS file.

If all you do is buy a game, download it then install Steam again on the same computer only to refund it later over and over that's a good indicator right there.

And if you're that into cheating the system, then just do something else because you're simply wasting everyone's time.

no internet no steam no problem...

but it is interesting..
if you delete your hard drive and log back into steam..
what have they got to track that time..

they can see if you downloaded the game and are trying to refund it without playing.

they will say you are abusing the refund system and will revoke your access to this feature
