My game is over 3GB+ big.
This kinda legitimately sucks, because I just wanted to publish a private game, but Steam asks not only for 100$ (which isn't a problem), but a lot of info such as tax and my bank and etc. Idk tf is tax stuff suppose to even be.
You could probably buy yourself a couple of years of using Steam by treating your friends as alpha testers as Steam does support companies in distributing games to alpha testers with the expectation of years of development to go.
You would have to fill out all that paperwork though. Presumably if your friends had enough fun you might even consider listing it for sale at the point anyway.
Yeah, then never mind. I need it to be private permanently since it contains a bunch of personally identifying stuff, nothing illegal, but stuff that Steam wouldn't really like too much in terms of being on the store page on top of containing a ton of unlicensed copyrighted stuff hence I would prefer it to be some private project that I could minimalistically give out free CD keys to friends.
the solution is not to publish it, buy the direct fee, upload the build and generate x beta keys to you friends.
