Can I Publish a Game For a Select Few People?
Hya, I was wondering if I could publish my game to a few select people on my friends list only. It's a Unity project that I frequently tweak and update and I'd rather them downloading updates comfortably through Steam and stuff rather then for e.g. Mega. Is this possible or not?

Not possible. You can only publish a game for everyone on the store or no one.

What about giving out CD keys? Also if let's say I don't publish it does Steam delete it after a certain amount of time or can I still keep it for myself?
Use another service like itch.io .

File size limit: 1 GB
My game is over 3GB+ big.
This kinda legitimately sucks, because I just wanted to publish a private game, but Steam asks not only for 100$ (which isn't a problem), but a lot of info such as tax and my bank and etc. Idk tf is tax stuff suppose to even be.
Not on Steam, no.
Well the expectation with Steam is that you are listing a game because you eventually plan to sell it on the Steam store. Hence the requirement for information on who you are, how they should pay you and what tax laws you come under so they can remit appropriately.

You could probably buy yourself a couple of years of using Steam by treating your friends as alpha testers as Steam does support companies in distributing games to alpha testers with the expectation of years of development to go.

You would have to fill out all that paperwork though. Presumably if your friends had enough fun you might even consider listing it for sale at the point anyway.
Technically it is possible. Yoyu can either list the price at something like $300 and give out select CD ketys. Or you could jusyt mark it as not avauilble for purchase and hand out CD keys. The iossue is your access to CD keys is limited to purchases.

Yeah, then never mind. I need it to be private permanently since it contains a bunch of personally identifying stuff, nothing illegal, but stuff that Steam wouldn't really like too much in terms of being on the store page on top of containing a ton of unlicensed copyrighted stuff hence I would prefer it to be some private project that I could minimalistically give out free CD keys to friends.

you can't publish it, however that is not what you intent to do anyways.
the solution is not to publish it, buy the direct fee, upload the build and generate x beta keys to you friends.
