Bot Reviews
I found a bot account that writes reviews for free games and then asks for awards. Is this a thing now? Why would someone write a script for this?

report the review, move on. some people see the points as free money and will try to get everything they can from the points shop.

I mean I guess that makes sense, but this profile clearly had some effort put in. Maybe it's to make the account seem more legit for trade scams?

since it is not your points, it doesn't really matter, right? the botted reviews in itself might be an issue. however what people do with their own points is their own business.

I don't care that they're doing it, I'm wondering *why* they're doing it.

probably because they can do it. that is usually how thing goes.
could be just an experiment that pays dividends
kid writes scripts for various other things and thinks...
how about i do this to get rewards for the point shop...
everything is possible these days...

honestly and truly, i have been wondering about alot of the parts of the steam store. Is there any possibility as good a job as valve does that an operation like this could through however many ways find a way to funnel money from acct to acct? Obviously points items are not available on market but everytime valve adds a new feature like this there are inevitably ways people misuse it for whatever current scam they are running. Or, even if there is no possible way, they are simply doing so because they want to or some form of malice.

someone has to spend money to get the points. steam points, are not "free".
there is a way to maximize your points per dollar used. trading points outside the trade window is not advised by valves.

if you are under the impression that a review was written, because you assume the dev/pub lured the reviewer to write one in exchange for awards. then you should report the review as that is review manipulation.

if someone awards a botted review, then let them.. it harms nobody. there is no quality control when it comes to reviews.
