Steam link controller fix (not passing through for non steam games)
So had this issue a while, read all sorts of threads tried some questionable software sill no further forward.

I have the steam link app for my android device, and my steam link for the tv, my pc resides in the study, whilst its great for games I have on steam i cant seem to use the controller with any non steam games I add.

I have the epic store . origin / play / gog and more, I tired to add my 2 recent purchases cyberpunk and hitman 3 to it.

Both launch, but my xbox one controller will not work, tried the following
* Run steam as admin
* Tried to select controller in the game
* Tried the big picture overlay to select controller
* Tried some software I found online.
* Made sure its the games exe, and not origin launcher or epic launcher

All a no go. Surly there is a simple solution I'm missing, cant be this much of a pain surly to get controller to pass though to the steam link.

This is the only method that worked for me:

Add Epic Game Store as a non-steam game, and then launch Epic Games Store through steam big picture (make sure it isn’t already running in the background). Navigate to Hitman 3 in Epic library and launch. After a few seconds the title screen should change to “press A to continue” and you’re good to go.

Hope that helps :)

I know that this is an old thread but DUDE, YOU ROCK! :D

Setting up the EA launcher as a non-steam app was the solution for my controller issues. Just could not get the xbox xontroller working for SW:Fallen Order and simply launching the EA Software through steam and THEN starting the desired game finally works!

THANKS A LOT!!!

This no longer seems to work. Tried the above to try getting it to work on my Legion Go but Epic just launches as a full screen game with a black screen and I can't do anything.

Edit: On my host PC Epic launches and looks normal. I can still navigate with my Legion Go by looking at my host display, but that kind of defeats the purpose. But I tried it just to see, and navigating to the game I wanted and launching it would then let me play using the controllers. But that's a pointless exercise, ultimately, since the goal is to be able to Link while away from my home computer.

Tried it as well to make Lego Fortnite run using steam link and a DS4 controller for my son. Did not work yet.. tried kind of everything but as soon as the game starts, it wont detect my controller but still mouse and keyboard i guess. If i switch to mouse using with controller in steamlink, i can navigate in the game but ofc.. cant play as its only the mouse.

Old thread but: You can download x360ce, add it to steam as non-game, launch x360ce through steam, and now x360ce will "broadcast" your controller to the pc, this way you don't have to add countless non-games to steam.
