Resolution Scaling 2.0 causes too much heat?
I noticed this lately, I use a 1080P monitor so most games have really bad aliasing. That's why I use resolution scaling either through the games options or through the command line. However, at some point the GPU heats up way too much.

For example:

Hitman 2016: Up until 1.40 scaling, there is no problem whatsoever and it is usually between 58-62 degrees but once I go up to 1.50 that's when the GPU goes 70 degrees.

NFS Rivals: Same here, the game looks disgusting without scaling, on 1.5 I play with constant 60 degrees no probs but once put to 2.0, all of a sudden it is 70-75 degrees.

Now, I'd understand a little bump to 65 degrees but why so much can anyone explain?

When the usage is below %80 the GPU works pretty cool (around 60 degrees) but once that threshold exceeds it is always 70-75 degrees hot.

Simple, because 2.0 resolution scale at 1080p is the same as native 4k resolution.
So 8 million pixels compared to 2 million at 1.0.

1.5 is only about 4.5 million so at 2.0 the GPU needs to calculate around 90% more pixels then at 1.5.
THATS why you see that drastic heat increase. Thats a big jump, especially in more modern titles.

Well yeah that's how it works. More usage = more heat. Invest in better cooling or don't push your card.

I see, thanks! Setting to 1.75 mostly solved the heat problem.
