This fixed my broken Mass Effect 3 yesterday
Beware! Once Linked your Steam Account cannot be linked to any other Origin Account without a long and exhausting help by the Support. So if you happend to have multiple Origin Accounts then make sure you are using the correct one.
i dont even care if they install the origin drm into the older games as long as they can be played on steam.
If your game was linked with your Origin Account you are completely fine.
The issue only exists for games that require such a product key but you never used it on any Origin Account
I don't have an Origin account linked.
I am currently playing a game right now, but when I install it later and I can't play it then I am going to pretty angry about it and I will not just accept it as in my opinion EA is braking Steam rules and consumer laws.
I don't have an Origin account, don't want an Origin account and will not create an Origin account for a game that I have in my Steam library for like 10 years.
To add: The store page of DA Origin now shows that it needs a 3rd party account in order to play it. So yes, they changed it silently.
Actually that would be a crime. It would be either fraud or theft.....
Yup. Same as if you find a wallet on the street and decide to keep it and not deliver it to the police. Plain theft.
Just because you were able to get something you are not supposed to does not make it legal in any form.
This was not the case for me. I had Dead Space 2 gifted to me many years back by a friend (who has sadly since passed away). My Origin account was linked to Steam when the option was first enabled, but Dead Space 2 still asks for a CD key.
Luckily, I also own the game on Origin anyway and that CD key works with the Steam install.
Strange, worked for me. I installed Dead Space 2 the first time in like 3 years and after pressing play it just showed "Activation Successful" and the game started.
My transactions were with valve/steam and it was years ago. 100% legit purchases from the steam store..
