Why Is Steam Download Speed So Sporadic Now?
So for the last....god knows how many months, steam download has been really slow and random. I also feel the need to point out that steam is the only store client on my PC that downloads this slowly. Other platform Epic Games still has nominal download speed. I have tried many fixes. reinstall, verification, restarted internet just to name a few. no solutions have fixed this problem.

I think I have the same problem than you. (I don't know if the problem is from Steam or us).
Steam download at half the speed I have and sometime less. Uplay is pretty normal in term of speed. Battle.net is good too.

I don't know what to do.

Dunno, but steam just today didn't want my steamapps folder on different drive and wants me to install games again in SteamLibrary folder...
Edit: Got installs fixed... had SteamLibrary on different name and so I moved the folder in it to keep games from different sources in different directories...

I am now reinstalling a game and the download speed is barely going above 20KB/second...... FUKEN KILOBYTES

Generally download issues are limited by

1) your disk IO
2) your CPU
3) your anti-virus
4) your ISP

I have the same download speed on ALL clients.

I only have a "slow download" speed when downloading to an older HDD, which is not meant for sustained speeds.

My SSDs/NVMEs and even more recent HDD, can sustain download speeds.

A lot of people are unaware how different Steam downloads are vs other services, which has a lot to do with misunderstanding why they have issues. I feel like I should make a copy/paste explaining it, since no one seems to search it first.

I think it only depends on steam servers maybe try other regions for better results.
