can you get banned for idling?

i left my game open accidentally overnight cuz i forgot to shutdown my pc, (it was in a pause screen) and i wanted to know if its bannable to stay idle (i heard people get banned for farming hours) i dont care about them i just want to play the game, also is it ok if i idle? because sometime i go chill for a hour or 2 and stopping the game and relaunching takes time i prefer to pause and resume a few hours later so if anyone can tell me i would aprecieate

I leave games running all the time and also use idling apps to get cards.

How would they know you're idling and why would they care? If you Idle and do for more than 2 hours, say goodbye to refunding the game... Getting a few cheap cards worth a few cents apiece isn't going to bother Valve since they and the publisher get a piece of the sale even if it is a penny each...

Heard from where? If someone telling you this, they're trolling you, as no one got banned for idling their games ever.

People mentioning ban for idling probably referring to a idling for cards program, but i dont think they care about that either.

I know of people in the past asked if it safe to use 3rd party apps to tell Steam server you're running said games but not actually running the game, and worried if it would trigger the vac ban on vac protected games.

But idle itself was never an issue, and no one ever get banned as that be the most silliest reason to ban someone.

ok makes sense now, i read online that u can get banned for idling for hours, cards and achievements, im guessing using programs or whatever makes sense now
