Is there a way to download a demo for keeps until full game release?
I've got a feeling I already know the answer to this.. regardless hopefully above title makes sense & allow me to explain why I ask:

There is this game coming out, Lake, by the studio Gamious. I managed to stumble upon it via a youtube recommendation.it's a free roam game and it looks gorgeous.

I believe there was one previous demo release before (due to a game event and it ran for a couple days and when I discovered the game the demo was available. I downloaded it played straight for like 6 hrs but caught it on the last day and didn't know until the following!

it's come around again on Steam Next Fest and it's up for like 17/06-22/06. I plan to sink some time into it whilst it's live as i've been craving to play it. However it's now been given a release date in September time and I was curious if there is a way to download the demo so it doesn't lock at the end of Steam Next?

I really love the game just enjoy the atmosphere and bumbling about in it even if I have completed the fairly limited scope of tasks the demo brings and would love to be able to play it periodically until it's release?

I get from a Dev POV that the limited demo helps build hype for the game but this game seems to have the 'what choice you choose impacts the outcome'. Well i'll be itching to see what the outcomes are when the release comes but i'd love to play about with the demo version longer to explore what it has to offer and almost build my own hype to pick different options to see what the starter choices are. I plan to buy the game when it comes out regardless, just 2 hours with it and I was sold! :)

I realise i've written a whole ass book about this and I reckon the answer is obvs no but if anything I hope it urges someone to play the demo at the very least. Chill ass, feel good game, pick it up and try it yo.

I highly doubt it.

Yeah I kinda figured as such, I'm just enjoying it so much I'd love to be able to play it here & there until release without having to sweat out hours in a couple of days, the devs seem to be active on the games' discussion page so I've popped an ask in there too!

I find the game launher is redesigned to push you to the store page once the demo is expired. Launcher nolonger executes the game.
Some demo are perminent but that is shown in the store page.
Example is Tell Me Why. Full game was free for June with 2 DLC and once downloaded we get to keep forever.

This is completely different with how the Festival Demos work.

Not necessarily, I've had demos that work for months after the fest is over that came out during it and were advertised in it.

If the demo doesn't require Steam to be running you could just copy the entire folder somewhere else and keep it as long as you want.
Easy way to tell:
-Install demo
-log out of Steam
-navigate to the install folder
-try to launch demo from it's .exe.

if it opens and can be played then it's fine and can be backed up.
If it throws an error or it opens the Steam login ui, no luck there.
