Vertical shelf instead of using little arrows?

So generally I have a shelf sorted by recently played games. It's very long and I can scroll down through it. But starting today, that shelf is gone and any shelf I try to add is organized horizontally like a console, where I have to click a tiny arrow to see more instead of just... scrolling.

This is extremely tedious for anyone with a bigger collection. Is there a way to get my "tall" shelf back? I can't seem to find a setting for it. And trying to drag the shelf just brings up an interface to reorganize them, which doesn't help.

There is an all games shelf and on the right you can select sort by last played. I hope this helps

It did, thanks. I think I tried that earlier but with a new shelf so it didn't give me the little dropdown arrow to expand the library. Thanks again!

I have a similar problem to the OP where i only really use the 'Recent games' shelf and it doesn't have an option to expand vertically into multiple rows. I tried out your suggestion and unfortunately it is flawed because 'All games' shelf sorted by recently played does not show games that you have installed but haven't launched yet, which 'Recent games' shelf does show.

It's the same as "All games" shelf sorted by last played.
