"Steam Account Credentials have Changed"
The 16th of this month (if my memory doesn't fail me) around 1:00am after I turned back on my PC from "Sleep" mode; I got a message from the Steam client saying that my credentials were changed. That was the 2nd time that happened to me (can't remember the day when this happened for the first time but it was last week). The thing is, none of my credentials were changed! (also the 1st time that happened to me nothing was changed). My e-mail was the same, my password too, my inventory is OK, no purchases were made, no games were recently played, nothing! I checked if I had any APIs but as expected, nothing at all! I don't use VPNs, I've analyzed my PC to see if there were any viruses but nothing, I also checked my LogIn History and all of the log-ins were made by me (also as I expected). I only have Steam opened on my PC and my cellphone, I also have Steam Guard activated since I created my account (in case someone asks). I've never changed phones or my cellphone number. I also checked my e-mail and no changes were made. Is there any chance that something has happened to my account? Or could it be an internet problem/Steam problem? (that could be possible too, right?).

Did anyone else recently had this problem too? I mean, it's not of a big deal, I just have to log in back to Steam but it can get annoying tho...

EDIT: More info added and some corrections made.

It could be a second account you have.

I don't have a second account and I'm the only one who uses this PC.

This thread was started a couple hours before yours and I wonder if it's related:

well, the only thing that I found in common is the fact that the same message appears to the guy (the only difference being that this has only happened to me 2 times while the guy is saying that he's been having that problem for years and also that he has multiple devices linked with his Steam account, while I don't have multiple devices, only my PC and my phone). Something that I forgot to mention (and idk if it has any relation to the problem itself) is that my router has a dinamic IP and I've been having some problems with my internet connection this days. Maybe when the internet goes and comes back something happens that makes the steam client to loose its marbles? Idk

I have exactly the same problem. I have been using sleep mode for years and for about 2 months i get the message "Your account credentials have changed" in 75% of cases when i wake my pc from sleep mode.
I have already contacted steam support but they couldn't determine external access. A complete formatting of all hard disks and reinstallation of windows did not help either.
I wonder if it's just a bug or something more serious.

And sorry for my bad englisch > google Translate :)

Happening to me too, no external logins and my credentials still work. Annoying.

This just started happening to me too when I wake my laptop from sleep after a few hours. Only thing that changed on my laptop was the recent Windows 11 update, but hard to say if Windows 11 is the cause. More annoying to grab my phone for the Steam Guard code than reentering my password.

I am also having this problem on a Windows 10 device. I have always had steam running in the background and not usually had a problem. Recently (I'm guessing after a windows update) it has started saying my credentials have changed every time the computer wakes from sleep which is super annoying. I regularly refuse all optional cookies on websites when given the choice, I don't know if that's relevant but it has never been a problem before.

Same "sleep" issue here, I'm so TIRED of this problem, i have to re-login EVERY time the computer wakes up

- the credentials have NOT changed

- fix your incorrect/misleading errors

- what part of SAVE PASSWORD does the Steam client not understand??

- When active, I can exit steam and re-launch without issue! - *obviously not dumping creds in between when machine is active!*

- How does it get more BASIC than this??

- STOP dumping saved credentials!

- learn how to SAVE credentials!

- Are they hiring ex EA employees over there??

I am also getting this error, it needs to be fixed. It is enough for me to seek out alternative stable content delivery platforms.

I'm getting this same error, every time I resume from sleep "Steam Account Credentials have Changed" when they haven't changed at all. Entering the same password works.

It's extremely irritating.

I'm also on a Windows 10 laptop using Wi-Fi.
