Rule 86: Don't make fun of steam
Again, a thread was deleted just because someone said steam was rubbish. Talk about censorship....

You're not reading it very well. I am not the original poster.

"When I download games on Steam while watching Youtube, my computer shuts down by itself. Why does Steam cause this problem?"
Steam isn't the cause in that, but merely the one exposing a different problem.

Such things usually are hardware related.
A piece of hardware which causes downloading things to shut the computer off? I doubt it. Shutdowns are more likely overheats, and that needs the game to be running, not downloading.

Failing hardware can cause it, yes. Overheating as well as issues with the PSU. All ofthose are hardware related.
Certainly when youtube is watched through a browser in addition.

Browsers are more intensive than people think. And the Steam client is a browser.

Browsers use a couple of %. Games use 100%.

Or its an issue with the power supply, an issue with the cooling fans, ventillation, etc. All of which is hardware. Your assuming its steam but its a faulty assumption.

Your taking 2 unrelated events and trying to apply a relation to them with no evidence to support it.

Browsers use a couple of %. Games use 100%.

100% of the processor, both use the GPU which produces the most heat in the computer and if fans or other components aren't working both can cause issues.

Anything related to power or heat would be 10 times worse when he was playing the game.

Same goes for the GPU - a game uses it to the max, as browser does not.

No, certainly not if it's related to the disk drive. A failing disk drive can have issues like this. I've had a laptop shut down regularly when using Chrome, but Steam and all games worked perfectly fine. It ended when the diskdrive wouldn't load anymore.

Hardware issues can show themselves in various forms, not always the most logical. Steam isn't the culprit in the issue you describe, it's a symptom. Finding the root cause is important.

Doesn't matter, the crashes for instance can be tied to the hard drive going bad and triggered by the download. There are a million reasons it can occur, and unless he's done some tracing or has errors pointing back to steam its far more likely to be triggered by something else.

It's exactly what you just said. It's unacceptable to steam for someone to say something bad about steam.

You literally did NOT read what was posted.

What is Censorship? The suppression or prohibition of any parts of books, films, news, etc. that are considered OBSCENE - POLITICALLY UNACCEPTABLE - A THREAT TO SECURITY.

Deleting a thread on a private platform is none of those things.

Censorship is just a buzzword to throw around whilst using it in the wrong context and always wrongly.
Steam is a pile of actual garbage, literally any sales platform like Ubisoft and Co. is better.
Now watch this thread not get deleted because youre full of bs.

You've only quoted a few places censorship can be used. It means anything removed because the person removing it doesn't like it there.

It will be if anyone chooses to report you. I'd do it to prove a point, but I never report anyone for anything. I wouldn't report my neighbour for murder, because it's none of my business.
