Don't let Superhot VR censor reviews. The reviews are about literal changes to the content of the game, and are therefore legitimate.
This isn't review bombing because someone said something outside of the game, some allegations or internal industry politics, or anything else that has no impact on the actual content of the title.

It's also not about "SJWs" or any such nonsense. That's just mud slinging trolls trying to obscure the actual issue.

The devs treated their fans and consumers with a lack of respect by patronizing them and retroactively removed content from the game five years later for no good reason.

They took away a choice the player had, and no update should leave a consumer with less than they had. There is no situation where someone has the moral high ground by taking a choice away from someone else.

This isn't licensed music that lapsed and forced the devs hand or anything of the sort. It was completely arbitrary, out of left field, and unnecessary removal of content people paid for.

This wasn't some gift, it was a transaction, and a certain amount of integrity for the content purchased is reasonably expected.

The update is a significant change a major plot point in the game's narrative that made complete sense, and the alteration actively hurts the narrative because it doesn't make sense how things work in game anymore.

It directly impacts the title itself and negative reviews reflecting altered content to the actual game files and gameplay are legitimate reviews of that game.

The reviews are addressing the literal content of the game, and should stay up.

It's also not an legitimate issue regarding self harm.

There is zero evidence that any form of entertainment media has a negative impact on real world violence of any sort.

In fact, actual evidence contradicts that by suggesting it either does no harm, or actually helps by providing a safe outlet.

This debate has been had over all sorts of media, games, movies, comics, TTRPGs, music, television, and it's been debunked every time. There's no good faith reason to think VR is any different.

The argument that a video game, VR or not, might contribute to self harm is not a valid one.

Especially not in an extremely violent video game about being mind raped by a computer in a dour cyberpunk setting. The act was wildly hypocritical and the reviews are not only legitimate, but well deserved in this case.

Don't deny a man steak because a baby can't chew it.

What even happened

They removed scenes where you have to shoot yourself to progress in the game and altered the ending.

These scenes made sense in the context of the game, were extremely thematically relevant, and wasn't even literal self harm in the context of the game, as it was virtual even in that context.

It was also a major plot twist and important to the story, as the setting and some mechanics change after it happens.

There was a toggle to choose whether or not to include this content in the game already, but the devs decided to just remove it.

The reason they gave for it is that "they were sad about the world today", which isn't really a valid excuse.

It's also worth pointing out that this is a game about stylish ultra violent killing set in a dour cyberpunk setting, so it's more than a bit tone deaf.

Plus, the other games in the series also include such scenes and are thus far unaltered.

It's basically a "Dev.exe is not responding" situation, and reviews complaining about it are legitimate as they are about the game's content and not some outside factor.
