By all means if you find 1 on sale for the same as a DS4 and you need a new controller grab one. But don't grab one just to get one when you already have a controller.
Up until March I had 2 and neither had an issue and neither had anyone else I knew with a PS5 had issues with them. Drift began in March so I returned it and ended up with a brand new controller in April. The new April controller started activating R2 with other key presses and randomly by itself. Could actually hear something loose inside so RMA'd the April controller end of May. Got another new one in June. So now on my 3rd secondary controller in 6 months. Other 1 is doing ok so hopefully I was just really really really unlucky with the secondary controllers.
