How do i remove my game ban?
how do i remove the red text?
Messaggio originale di JellyPuff:
You can't. It'll only go away after 7 years have past since the last ban. A bit too long imo, but it is what it is.

If you don't want to be labeled as a cheater then don't cheat. It's as simple as that and the only people equating it to a crime are those like you.

A thing most people don't realize is that Steam accounts get banned. I'm not trying to defend the people behind these banned accounts, but i think the "VAC/game banned" stigma has been an age old thing. A lot of people wouldn't abandon their banned account if they didn't fear how people would "label" them.

It usually does not necessarily reflect that this person could be a cheater and really shoudn't result in people making their own judgements. Accounts get game/VAC banned for reasons other than cheating, and in some cases, these bans can occur when the user didn't have access to their account (when it was stolen).

It is absurd for people to immediately label a banned account as a cheater, albeit it does reflect that type of activity happening before. It's just some more thought for smooth-brains out there, i guess.

I mean obviously it's a dumb thing to do, but it's just a video game.

People who treat someone who cheated in a video game when they were 13 like they murdered someone never cease to amaze me.

There's plenty of bad people in this world doing bad things, getting morally indignant about some idiot who used an aimbot is just absurd. Getting banned from the game and labeled as a cheater for 7 years is plenty of punishment, they don't deserve to be treated like garbage.

I've never once cheated in an online game, I just think the stigma around it is really over the top and they are often treated like they did something much worse then they did.

Intent is important if you want to rationalize. At the end of the day video games are a business and a business can permanently ban those people who are harming other customers regardless of their age, ignorance, immaturity or intent.
I agree, but one dumb mistake stigmatizing someone in the eyes of the largest PC gaming community for years to come does seem a little too harsh. 3 years would suffice in my opinion. But perhaps this is more of a community problem.

I mean I understand the argument and I empathize. I certainly don't know what the optimal display period is and can't argue that seven is better than three or five is a good compromise. It all ends up being kinda arbitrary at some point. I mean why not ten years while we're at it?

You're free to have opinions about any consequences. They may not be wrong simply because there's no perfect answer. Sometimes the consequence are just the consequences and grousing about them after the fact just isn't worth anything.

Valve will certainly never make everyone happy regarding it. The people who are (the most) unhappy though might not be a demographic they're too concerned about.
People can create new Steam accounts. At least it's not like every new account it automatically given a ban status and they don't make it so you can never buy the game again or make a new account...

Except they tried non-permanent bans in the past. Know what happened? Ban would expire and accounts would cheat again.

Well, I don't think they tried 15-year bans in the past (merely because they weren't around for 15 years when they stopped the experiment).

But really, if someone still goes and cheats after 15 years of time to think about it, yeah, give them a perma.

Also, nobody ever became a better person by being shamed, anyways....

Luckily that is true, Valve doesn't utilize any type of IP or hardware ID ban. These types of bans are usually not effective because of how they can be circumvented but yeah, this is is the only chance
of being able to play in secured servers again - so banned account users have countless chances of redemption.

I'm personally fine with bans being permanent and being displayed publicly, account owners have the responsibility of taking care of whatever goes on with their account. The only problem is just the community that has a hate boner when they see a red text on a profile, which is dumb (for reasons I mentioned before).

One purposeful use of a downloaded, installed, and known cheat is what is being punished, though.

It's no error. It's no mistake. Every single cheat found, downloaded, installed, and used is not a mistake, but instead a choice.

Choices have consequences, even if you're a "dumb 13 year old".

That's how you become less dumb, even as a 13 year old. You face the consequences of actions that are selfish and broadly impact others.
There are games people won't play certain games because cheaters ruined them. How is ruining a game for everyone harmless? The online gaming community is toxic enough without cheaters many gamers like me won't touch it and while my decision doesn't mean squat, the overall effect globally does have an economic impact.

Depends. If those consequences are well-explained as "measured and proportionate" to you, in a language that you, even as a dumb 13yo can understand, then yes. Then you will learn and understand. Nobody ever became less dumb by just being called "an idiot who had it coming".

All you have to do is avoid it is by not cheating :)
Intent is also important. I've seen many players, who've cheated at 12/13 years old at a CoD game exactly once, only to still feel the consequences, years later, when they're more mature and understand, how cheating in MP games ruins the fun for everybody.

"What a shame, create a new account and next time don't cheat."

1. Cut a large opening for a door in your box using a box cutter.

2. Label the box "Time Machine" using paint or markers.

3. Create a time travel dial out of construction paper. Cut it out and glue it to the box. Attach a paper towel roll to the inside of the door using hot glue, so that you can close the door.

4. Using construction paper, create buttons for the time machine. Make one button that reads "Past" and one that reads "Future." Make number buttons so you can punch in the date of travel and add years to the time travel.

5. Once all the time travel buttons have been created, glue them onto the box! Set the time to 1021 days ago and hop inside. When you walk outside, find your younger self and teach him a good lesson about not cheating

I didn’t cheat lol, I verbally abused another player in post lobby chat who turned out to be a twitch streamer whom was good friends with a community manager of the game… I still hate that streamer to this day.
It is what it is I suppose.

Then you still absolutely 100% deserve to be kicked out of that game forever.

You hating a streamer =/= you get to spew that anywhere you please. You broke rules, and you got called on it, and this is the result, a permanent and WELL WARRANTED BAN.

no one wants to play around people who are like that. No one.

Most of those, who really just want to grief others and even pay for the latest cheats of the most competetive games simply won't use their main account.
If you're 12, you shouldn't even have a Steam account. If you're 13, you should definitely know it's not okay to cheat. That's common sense you learn when you're 4 or 5.

1:
I didn’t know it was streamer, until I got hate messages spammed in my profile from her viewers.

2:
I didn’t break any rules this was just favoritism, I called the streamer out on her ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ playstyle, she baited a respond from me with a troll response, I flamed her.
Then got banned the next day.

It wasn’t well warranted it was ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥. No warning no nothing.
