Seriously Valve?!! I will never buy a game in your platform. Can’t even give a game that you own for free, even only one OMG... RIP Steam

Pretty much. They have been doing frebies for a while.
L4D2 was given out for free on Christmas 2013.
There's no need to be upset about extended free weekend vs free game. Half Life games are dirty cheap on sales (90% off) so there's chances you already have couple of games if you followed sales. If you haven't, Valve gives 70 days to play it for free. That should be sufficient to finish all games even if you never played any of it. HL 1 is like 12-20 hours long, then 2 additional campaigns really short (2-10 hours). HL2 is not too long either. Even if you have 1-2 hours a day for gaming you can beat everything within 70 days easily.

It is sad, replaying old classic Half Life now, 20 years after its initial release. Game aged pretty well, and you can feel its good production value even now. Everything is great, even for a limited technology they had 20 years ago. And now this new steam UI, a complete disgrace visually and technically. I can't believe this is the same company who is responsible for both things.
What's wrong with the UI? It's fine.

Well for me the UI looks different.

good for you. big part of steam users have technical issues, accessibility issues or other grievances with this new UI. Many old features are missing, resource usage gets doubled compared to old UI, tablet look and feel, visual glitches, what's new section - that's only a fraction of complains this new UI gets. I don't use it, still on old UI and I plan to stay on old UI for as long as it will be possible. New UI does not work on my older rig dedicated to old games and works considerably worse on main rig while using ~2Gb of RAM, therefore I refuse to use this migraine inducing bloat because of it's low quality and ugly look.
if you love the way it looks try to scroll your games fast back and forth couple of times :) or switch your client offline and try to find your library intact. or open group chat for very big group and see how all of your RAM gets eaten and steam becomes unresponsive. there's so many issues with this new UI and Valve haven't fixed anything important so it's same bad as it was in beta stage. garbage quality
half life bundle NOT free
it reads in the shop all hl parts will be free to play in a bundle, but they are not?
It says Half-Life Series, not Half-Life Bundle, two different things.

Anyways, navigate to the bundle and click on the half-life games, it should prompt up a install window.

Also keep in mind that it's for a limited time, about 2 months.
they are free to play not free to buy or free to keep
thats 3 different things
basically a 2-month trial
