Thanks, this is what is was looking for
I originally had a whole essay lined out about how dumb it is to reward someone, and thereby give them attention, for a take you disagree with. But I'll let the quote above me speak for itself.
I am not against people using voting systems to signify dissatisfaction with a particular take or idea. And I get why people use the Jester emote; despite being the king of online storefronts, Steam hasn't ever really had good options for feedback. I guess getting into arguments counts, but winning online debates is either something that happens in a blue moon or a dream. You're either not persuading me, or I'm not persuading you. And part of that is due to the fact that I'm actually pretty terrible at being persuasive. But it also has to do with the format of online communication itself.
I get it, but I still find it to be baffling and kind of funny in a way that's not often discussed. Like, 1/3 of 600 points is 200. If you get enough people to stack on top of that, you really don't need to worry about the fact that that's 100 short of the cheapest emote on offer. Considering the reason people use the Jester emote in the first place, it's not a stretch to say that playing people pays off.
Just some thoughts I've been having as of late. Dunno if they're worth anything, I just thought it was slightly humorous.
*gets 33%*
"Damn this is a scam."
Even more weird, you can/have to wait 14 days to get your points when someone awards you any of them...weird weird
Btw, in the link below is the thread I talked about it and I still haven't received those points

I don't think this is worth thinking about, but if you want to be technical: The icon award is worth 66% of what you payed, and the rest is given in points.
Hell. Just add the ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ Grim Reaper.
...
But yeah. Kobs raises some interesting points (no pun). People who earned the award should get the whole points + Valve should get rid of that 14 day ♥♥♥♥, as well.
I'll pass.
