How many points does the recipient of the "Take my points" award get?
The award that cost 4800 points and looks like a steam bag with wings.

Every award grants the receiver 1/3 of the award cost.

The award also tells you how much it's going to give, if you select the award and hit next you get to a final confirmation page (where you can abort giving the award) that tells you how much it'll give the other user and that it'll take 14 days for those points to arrive.

I originally had a whole essay lined out about how dumb it is to reward someone, and thereby give them attention, for a take you disagree with. But I'll let the quote above me speak for itself.

I am not against people using voting systems to signify dissatisfaction with a particular take or idea. And I get why people use the Jester emote; despite being the king of online storefronts, Steam hasn't ever really had good options for feedback. I guess getting into arguments counts, but winning online debates is either something that happens in a blue moon or a dream. You're either not persuading me, or I'm not persuading you. And part of that is due to the fact that I'm actually pretty terrible at being persuasive. But it also has to do with the format of online communication itself.

I get it, but I still find it to be baffling and kind of funny in a way that's not often discussed. Like, 1/3 of 600 points is 200. If you get enough people to stack on top of that, you really don't need to worry about the fact that that's 100 short of the cheapest emote on offer. Considering the reason people use the Jester emote in the first place, it's not a stretch to say that playing people pays off.

Just some thoughts I've been having as of late. Dunno if they're worth anything, I just thought it was slightly humorous.

I posted a question about that 1/3 points in Steam, it's kind of weird cause it's not real money, why would they keep 2/3 of the points awarded, most peoples just give it back to others like a few did here, it's like a "like" system, we should be awarded points every month to do just that, I really don't get the award points thing in Steam,
Even more weird, you can/have to wait 14 days to get your points when someone awards you any of them...weird weird
Btw, in the link below is the thread I talked about it and I still haven't received those points

It's an empty currency (points) that you can buy more empty currency with (awards).

I don't think this is worth thinking about, but if you want to be technical: The icon award is worth 66% of what you payed, and the rest is given in points.

There should be a carrot award.

Nah. We need a caretaker award. Or a spade award.

Hell. Just add the ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ Grim Reaper.

...

But yeah. Kobs raises some interesting points (no pun). People who earned the award should get the whole points + Valve should get rid of that 14 day ♥♥♥♥, as well.

Awards would become the new "rep4rep" with people spamming awards back and forth to boost their profile image.

I'll pass.
