How long will Steam exist?
One day, whether it be in my lifetime or not, Steam will eventually expire as all things in (corporate) life.

Steam exists already longer then many of its current users ( 17+ years).
And its bigger and more successful then ever.
Like already written, nothing last forever but i see them going for quiet a while.
Sudden world wars or alien invasions notwithstanding of course.

yup, i made my account in 2003 for cs 1.6- coming from won cs1.5. and can say steam wont be dying anytime soon because it has so many devs and publisher using the program. if valve kept the store strict like it was from 2003-2005 only supplying valve games well more than certain it would have been long dead or close to inactive. smart move for them to open the store to all thats why steam is very big today OP.

I think it is time for people to move away from steam. I mean their custom service might as well be bots at this point.

I never had a single problem with Steam Customer Support in my 9 years on Steam.
I had 3-4 problems in that time and everything was solved by Support inside 1-2 days after opening a ticket.
Dont confuse people who complain to Steam Support about things they are not responsible for or not being able to use the simple ticket system as " bad customer service".

you had so few encounters with customer service I would have to say your personal experience is insignificant even as an anecdote.

If you have significantly more problems in a shorter time, the real problem may sit in from of the monitor.

Sounds like someone is unhappy with their response.

Until it doesn't. Most fortune tellers would charge you for that answer, but I'm gonna give that one to you for free.

Coca Cola has been around since 1886. Steam could do the same and specially when it's the largest game store on the planet.

Begs the question why you are still here. All you do is complain about Steam, and how it should be broken up and whatnot.

Steam, Epic, whoever will exist for as long as people find merit in virtual products as a service.

While to an extent advertising can effectively brainwash people to a normal (ie mcdonalds), trends/fashion can swing both ways.

I do envision eventually that it will become trendy for a generation to turn its back on tech be it in part or whole. The impact dependant on size could possibly end certain current practices.

Although taken from star trek, its recognized the imagination and ability to dream coupled with memory is without doubt a powerful tool. So whats to say someone else does not discover a way for us all to share our dreams and experiences.
If indeed this was to come about its safe to say the entertainment industry would die first followed by when capitalised on other industries to follow.

Possibly as soon as five to ten years a lot of people will prefer dealing with (AI) bots because they will be better at resolving their problems than human beings.

S.x.

i take it you're a pepsi fan?

No, I only drink coke. Still, comparing Pepsi to Epic is an insult. Noone deserves to be compared to Epic.
