Quick question about giving peoples profiles awards.
hey, I was just wondering if you give an award like "Take my points"(4800points) does the receiver receive the complete amount of steam points? does it tell them who gave the award?

1. "Take my points" gives them 1600 points. Every award has an amount it gives.

2. No, they're not told who gave the award.

3. They are however, notified of the award and what was awarded via an E-mail.

Seems like the recipient gets 1/3 of the points.

It is definitely 1/3 of the original cost, so here's a breakdown anyway.

Let's just hope that nothing changes in a short amount of time, anyway.

I'm not aversed to them adding new awards, but at least don't change their points awarded/cost.

I have a feeling that we'll have a lot more than 23 awards by the time of the lunar sale though.

It is more Steam salami slicing, they 'give' you 1000 points for your purchases and then they 'take' 660 to launder them into awards.

I guess it doesn't really matter for someone who buys games from Steam as they will be burning a hole, but for someone who always buys offsite 300 points is a lot.

Did you know - Valve used to be a game developer before they became a miser shopkeeper? Want to know more? Click here!

People are buying points outside of Steam? That reads as a .... self-inflicted issue.

No dear, all you get from buying games off Steam is around 80%-100% off.

My point was 300 points for someone who doesn't pay inflated prices and therefore gets no points is a very large amount.

Me? Personally I like fiat currency in my pocket rather than worthless Steam points on my profile, but I am weird like that.

Although saying that - do you think Steam points will have a value when society collapses and we all live in a post apocalyptic hell?

Rhetorical and if you answer anything but 'I doubt it very much' you carry on the discussion with yourself.

Sorry for the misreading.

Yeah, it’s about as annoying as not getting a punch on the new punch card when getting the freebie from the filled one! So stingy :eaglederp:

How does your fiat, then, continue to have value in your tendered apocalyptic collapse of society? :kentconfused:

Not going to engage you, when someone argues AGAINST 80%-100% off of a Steam price I will leave you to it.

Go to a mirror and argue with yourself.

Me? I'll enjoy my 80%-100% off and weep softly about the harsh reality of a life that doesn't give you Steam points as well.

What argument am I making against off-site discounts?

Valve's revenge for all the "Valve can't count to 3" jokes.
