No card drops from a new game

I bought a game (Vampyr), played for 3 hours and no cards dropped, although they should start dropping after the 2-hour mark at least. I checked the badge progress and was surprised to see that it says "No card drops remaining".
What could be the reason? One of the Steam bugs?

no it means the game wont drop cards, you have to buy it.

If it says "no card card drops remaining" that means you've already used up your drops.

Check your inventory for the already existing cards.

You don't seem to own the game, are you family sharing? If so, you won't get the drops. Only the account which owns it will.

Yeah, you need to actually own the game in order to get card drops.

That's strange, I can see it in both "View purchase history" and "View licenses and product key activations", but it's not in my game collection indeed... Thanks for pointing out the problem, gotta contact support.

The funny thing is that after I bought the DLC for Vampyr, the game is now shown in my collection and the cards started dropping (after I crafted the badge already).

No he is right, there are not any card drops from free games. I just downloaded Apex Legends and after playing for hours I got no cards, low and behold I had 0 card drops remaining

you need to spend around 9-10$ in the game in order to get the drops from f2p games.

Hello, i got a same problem as OP.

Talking about regular game (not F2P) gained through cdkey (retail).

It shows "No card drops remaining" even tho i didnt get any yet.

Try adding a free game to refresh card drops.

Try adding a free game to refresh card drops.

No this is an ongoing issue since yesterday due to Steam Tuesday maintenance. Check this thread for more info.

I'm in the same boat. I don't have card drops for Divinity: Original Sin(played it for two hours already), Sunset Overdrive and Crown Trick.
The funny thing, this glitch is very selective. I've bought both Divinity: Original Sin games at the same time. The second one has available card drops while the first only has drops on the classic version. Weird stuff. :)

Edit: I have already tried adding a free game to my library to refresh drops, it didn't work. I also tried removing one of the afflicted games from the library and adding it back again, that didn't work either.

Yes, it seems like 90% of games don't have card drops for now due to this bug. And adding a free license didn't work. I have tried many free licenses but the situation is still the same.

Card drops are a limited resource whereas you’ll have to buy the rest in the market once they run out. This feature plays a big role in keeping the card market up I would imagine.
