Steam downloads throttled?
I usually average around 80-130MB/sec with 1GB internet. Now it seems downloads are capped at 13.5MB/sec. Is this normal? I've tried clearing Steam Download cache, DNS flush. etc. Nothing seems to work. Anyone else getting really slow speeds? I understand it's the holidays, but still this is quite slow.

Change your download location. The nearest is not always the best.

My copy/pasta...

Read and try everything...

Programs Which May Interfere with Steam

Spyware, Malware, Adware, or Virus Interfering with Steam

Troubleshooting Network Connectivity

Try all download servers until you find one with speeds you are happy with.

There are over 130 to try.

Any server near me was slow as dirt. Nearest does not always equal faster.

Today, Vancover was better for me. Yesterday, Rio was better (odd, ain't it?). Btw... I'm on the East Coast.

I appear to be having the same issue today, everything else appears to be okay. :( Only difference is I usually get 15MB/s which is as expected, but today I'm getting around 5MB/s.

EDIT: Found another thread on the same topic, so I guess lots of people may be having the same issue.

As other Steam members have mentioned, just have to switch download location and find the best one until things get back to normal.

There's also the chance that your ISP can be throttling your steam downloads too. I have to call mine and threaten to switch every October or November because CenturyLink likes to pull that crap. This isn't very common so you should try out hotsauce's suggestion before calling your ISP.
