There should be a way to get rid of 7 day trade hold when changing mobile auth to a new device
I got a new phone and now obviously every trade I do has a 7 day trade hold, every market listing has a 2 day hold etc... because I changed my authenticator to a new device?

Only reason this exists is to prevent any trades I didn't authorize, in case someone steals my account, but what IF, get this, I can prove that it's actually me and not someone else?? I see no reason to have a trade hold if I can prove it's me.... this is so lame.

And how do you prove it's you and not a hijacker that has access to your account?

Then next time you should move the authenticator to a new device to avoid the trade hold.

Moving your Authenticator only incurs a small cooldown on trading and market transactions. If you do not move your Authenticator properly you will incur a larger cooldown. This is necessary as hijackers frequently trick users into giving many codes which allows the hijacker to remove the original owners Authenticator and add their own. The cooldown allows the victim to respond while keeping their items and such safe from the hijacker

You did it wrong... because you're supposed to 'transfer' instead 'change' as your trade holds will only be couple of days instead of 7 days.

The point is, therr should be no trade hold whatsoever, not even a day.

Just because you say so, doesn't mean it should be so.

To prove it's you means to provide proof of ownership. That isn't instant and would only create an extra burden on the support system. Heck, if you properly transfer the authenticator the holds is quicker done than when you have to wait on response from support.

A system like this is easier to manage. Keep in mind that not everything has to accommodate you, it has to accommodate all party and security factors.
