How do I Remote Play Together Portal 2 (1 mobile; 1 desktop; 1000 miles apart)
Hi,

I dont get it. I'm learning this Remote Play Together thing and it's making no sense. Im on a desktop; my friend is on a phone. I can invite, and they can accept on their Android phone, my Remote Play Together invite using the Steam Chat app installed on their phone.

The Steam Chat app requires the Steam Link app to complete the invite, so they download that. Now my friend's list shows them as having accepted my invite, and I, on my desktop, have the option to kick them. In other words, it's all good - they're in and we are ready to "remote play together". They're watching my Portal menu screen like I am. Their phone control overlay is at the ready complete with the orange and blue portal gun buttons. So we should be ready to go as soon as I select to play a co-op game.

But when I select a co-op game it asks me who I want to invite, as per a normal Portal 2 game, like my friend is not even invited. WTF - I've already invited my friend - they've already accepted - Steam already set the portal controls on their phone, and on my desktop my "friend's" list confirms they're ready.

But nonetheless, in Portal 2 my friend's name is on my Friend's list as someone I can invite, so ... ok I select his name ... I dont know why I'm selecting his name cause I already Remote Play Together invited him and so on ... but apparently he's here with me but not here. I invite him even though he's already accepted my Remote Play Together invite. And now I'm thinking this RPT thing is broken. So his Android phone alerts him of a second invite to Portal 2, and says he needs to accept my invite for the game from his computer, not my phone.

is going on here. Per Steam its as easy as starting a game with the Remote Play Together ability on the phone, which Portal 2 is. Inviting my friend to Remote Play Together from the Steam overlay, which I did. They accepting my invite, which they did. And then playing, which we cant.

Thank you.

From main game menu, click Play cooperative game > highlight Standard Co - op, now press button for Local Splitscreen.

Might want to check this out for multi controller. Best of luck

Hi. Thank you for the reply. I'll add that we're a thousand miles apart. That's not working. I'm on a desktop and a thousand miles away they're on their phone.

Steam link with the person, now both are connected, you need to do split screen, as that the only way to do local co-op.

Portal 2 is not a mobile game, means there no mobile version of the game.

What you're doing is streaming the content to your friend, just like Nvidia GeForce now, PlayStation Now, Xbox cloud, or etc, if not sure what those services are, then put it simply, you're sending video feed to your friend, and your friend sending input from his/her phone to you to act on your PC, if that helps you understand.
