I'll give you the full copy/pasta now...
Please use the search. Seriously, my copy/pasta from the last 1,000 threads...
Age is set by cookies. If you have to enter the date again, you are deleting Steam's cookies.
(This is about all warnings like the one for the game hub and age gates) Last stage check (View Page button) will never be set.
Been asked soooooo many times that Valve even made a Q&A for it...

♥♥♥♥ those rating agencies in the ass.
Making a ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ horrible user expirience isn't better for them. ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ stupid decision
How is it horrible to click "view page?"
It's an inconveniences that Steam agrees upon. They would much rather not request the age multiple times. I would rather not need to click on "view page". There is probably an other solution that would be better for the consumer. To stop Steam from asking they would need an alternative approach that the rating agencies agrees with.
1. steam settings: start processes,
2. redirects to "rating agencies" site to verify you really want to turn off this junk.
3. on steam, the setting to save you birthday shows up!!!
The whole redirect thing can work just like linking steam to epic, or steam to Bethesda, or steam to any other site!!! someone should have come up with some compromise!!!
it's not even ignorant to think that a 12 year old isn't smart enough to put a year that makes themselves old enough to view anything they want, it stupid, so this is for show... and it's an imposition with no practical purpose other than to annoy and frustrate the world.
It serves no practical or function purpose, it's in no way validated.
There should have been a solution or compromise YEARS ago!!
EDIT: Is the age gate enough of a phycological deterrent for enough kids to justify it? are there really that many kids who see an age gate and crap themselves and back away, clear their history, and burn their computer so no one knows!
Complain to your relevant government agency. Valve HAS TO abide by the laws they create.
Valve says Rating agencies, not government agencies.
Very last Q/A

If they said there was a law, yeah I'd address that, but they said "many rating agencies have rules"...
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Entertainment_Software_Rating_Board
And those rating agencies are established because of laws.
Rating agencies will not allow you to turn it off.
Secondly it is irrelevant whether you believe "It serves no practical or function purpose, it's in no way validated" because the official response from Valve is:
“Q: Why do you KEEP asking my damn age throughout the store?
"We’re with you on this. Unfortunately, many rating agencies have rules that stipulate that we cannot save your age for longer than a single browsing session. It’s frustrating, but know we’re filling out those age gates too.”
Yes, someone underage can put in a false date but Valve and othes cannot be held accountable for the actions of that person doing so.
Indeed.
