joystick error when pressing l1 + r1

when I press l1 + r1 the controls are blocked for no reason and it has to do with steam because outside of this the joystick works great for me

Then disable Steam's input mapper (and restart Steam) so it won't get in the way at all.

You mean disable controller settings ?, I have one from xbox and doing that makes it not work and apparently it shuts down on accidental pressing with l1 + r1

I don't know what you mean by "disable controller settings". What I mean, is to disable the whole functionaly that means that Steam gets in the way of remapping gamepad input to, well, something else. Like mapping non-XInput-inputs to XInput or mapping gamepad inputs (even XInput) to keyboard inputs.

That's what an input mapper does. Steam got 4 of them, all enabled by default. XInput, PS, Switch und "Generic" which is actually DirectInput.

I've looked it up. Valve call their input mapper "configuration support". So uncheck all those "configuration support" boxes & restart Steam.

I have tried it but it keeps crashing with those keys, only now the steam hud opens

I meant that the control keeps shutting down and now the steam overlay opens additionally

Just to understand, so it doesn't shut down when Steam's not running?

It only happens when I press l1 + r1 at any time, when I press them it turns off. only happens with steam open

what I did was mapped the template again but removing the guide button that for some reason was mapped as l1 + r1
