Steam points conversion rate
Hi everyone, I'm asking for your assistance here.

For you US citizens, 1$ = 100 Steam points. For others, it's no so simple.
For example, I'm in the UK. i get 131 points for every £1 I spend spend.

For those in non US/UK countries, can you post down below what your country is, and the exchange rate for Steam points.

It depends on the currency's conversion rate versus the US dollar. The software converts the payment to US dollars and awards 100 steam points for each of those dollars.

That's correct. That's why i'm asking here what everyone is getting. The SP exchange rate is better than the £>$ rate, so I can't work it out accurately.

Could you provide your currency rate please <3

Steam doesn't show prices in DKK. We see all prices in EUR. Not much of a difference really since the exchange rate is 7.45 DKK = 1 EUR. It has been that way for something like 20 years, any movement is on the third place after the decimal point.

The DKK is pegged to the Euro that's why. It can only fluctuate by like 2% as per being part of ERM II

Note that the points conversion is just $1.00 USD = 100 points

So just convert your local currency to USD and that's basically how many points you get. Its just an obfuscated currency conversion to USD. The point conversion rate is whatever the currency conversion rate is (like it used to be with steam wallet)

You don't need to ask what the point conversion rate is, just use google to find the X currency to USD conversion rate.

As far as I can see, it's not always exactly accurate. I thought it best to ask anyway; just in case. ;) It's for a guide.

The current inter-bank rate of exchange is

1 GBP = 1.33 USD = 133 points
1 Euro = 1.19 USD = 118 points
1 Brazilian Real = 0.19 USD = 18 points

Again its basically just the existing conversion rate

Note that if it was a 'static' number it would have been pegged to the conversion rate back when the store went live in June. At that time

1 Euro = 1.12 USD
1 GBP = 1.25 USD

Since both currencies are not at these values, and the points conversion doesn't reflect these rates, thus its obvious teh points conversion is based on the inter-bank currency conversion rate to 1 USD

Fundamentally points are 'pegged' at 1USD = 100 points. And thus other currencies conversions are all based on this pegged value to the USD

So the conversion rate you see here is going to be different in a few months as the currencies drift up or down. In June your 1GBP got 125 points, today you're getting 133 points, by the next summer sale it will again be different depending on the value of hte GBP vs the USD. You can't really use it as a guide because it is temporally inaccurate unless you're using USD as your stema base currency

Sure, there's some rounding up in the numbers but the exchange rates are as accurate as you can get, just like Satoru demonstrated.

One could add some unnecessary variation to the equation depending on the source of said exchange rates. There's a difference between what individual banks or exchange services offer and what say, a federal bank would list.
Thanks guys. I’ll consider changing my formulae.
