Joystick X56 not working

I have a Logitech X56 HOTAS and while it installs to the computer and shows up in Windows 10, the Xwing, Xwing vs Tie Fighter, and Tie Fighter Games don't seem to like it. I have forced the game controller off which allows the CD Rom Version and original game version to run. On start up I can move the joystick to the appropriate corners and the buttons do work to move forward to game start. But once in game, the controls don't work. The special Edition of the games does not register the Joystick at all. When I enter options within the game to map the joystick and throttles, the buttons don't register when clicked, only the mouse. I will add finally, that in Windows, the throttle and Stick show up. If I choose "Select Stick as primary device for older games" the games wont register a thing. If I "Select the throttles as primary for older games" then the original versions of the game detect the joystick at intro and the button presses to calibrate them as mentioned above but dont work in game as they see the mouse as the joystick. FYI, both the stick and throttle show up in DCS World and work there.
