Why so slow?

Why is the download speed so slow on steam? It was faster before.

It is pretty slow today.
May be congestion. Streaming video works fine without interruptions or dropping resolution as do other downloads, so I'm looking at steam.

Steams servers are probably just being slow

Tried a couple of aussie servers, they all ran at 1.1 MB/s or less. Seattle runs at about 5.

same. I haven't been getting high download speeds on steam recently. other platforms do fine giving me up to 80mb/s but on steam I'm lucky if I can get 30. I switched servers a few times and found a more stable one but nothing that gets me above 30mb/s.

TBH, my top speed isn't much more than 5 so at that I'm relatively happy. Still odd that au servers are so much slower today.

All thoose comments about the author having bad internet are stupid.
We have the same issue since 3 days now. Everything works fine, with every provider. Exept for steam. Even the cdn provider, akamai is working fine for different services like german television vod. Steam has a huge issue somewhere. Or Akamai has an issue with german internet providers / tier 3 providers.
