Hi Valve! About this employee who banned someone
I've spent thousands apon thousands of dollars with Steam and am likely to continue doing so.

Can you please tell me why this Sean Vanaman, who has shown a willingness to abuse his position in order to ban someone because he got mad in a video game..he is mid 30s by the way..and you let him get away with a non apology?

This kind of action is termination level behavior in the real world. I am very disappointed and wonder what steps Valve actually takes to protect my investment in your platform.

Helps if you actually say what the issue it is, in this case it looks like they already issued an apology to the player and changed how bans work so that it cannot happen again which any basic search would have told you -

I don't even play DOTA2 though I played the wc3 mod.

But knowing a power tripping manchild is ensconced there at Valve makes me sort of nervous and sad. Is the money I have spent safe?

The dude literally threatened the player then banned him and had the nerve to tell them he was a Valve employee..he wasn't afraid at all. He was cocky. This wasn't the first time he banned someone because he could.

And all you make him do is post a non apology in Reddit? That isn't enough sorry..that makes me very very nervous.
I think they changed things so this wont happen again.
Really did not look good.

Excuse me - why was the post closed
So, the global moderator just closed my original post (https://steamcommunity.com/discussions/forum/0/2974027084084678563/) about Sean Vanaman, the Steam employee who abused his position after he had a temper tantrum during a DOTA2 match.

I'm even more concerned now. I raise - after 12 years and untold thousands of dollars - a thread to discuss Valves handling of this incident, and some random moderator comes along and closes the thread?

Sorry chief, that doesnt fly. I'm not whining and raging and screaming like so many of the userbase. I am asking pointed questions about Valve policies for employee misbehavior, after spending lots and lots of money on Steam.

My question to Valve is, do they consider the 'punishment' given to Sean Vanaman to be sufficient? That is, for a developer to access a production database and alter data, banning a user entirely because they are upset?

Moderator, I would ask that you get your supervisor before closing my thread, thanks.

If it wasnt clear, I was well aware of Valves response to the employee malfeasance. However, I consider it less than insufficient. I know how to Google, thanks - you can drop the passive aggressive tone in future.

I am concerned that Valve does not know how to handle problem employees. You know where most fraud occurs? Internally, by employees. Im sorry, but Sean Vanaman - and by proxy, Valve - have lost my trust with their handling of this incident.
