steam games download a few kb

hey community.

I noticed, that recently some of my games download a few kilobytes and that over days. whats going on? is somebody using my account or is it some sort of issue anybody else also has?

Shader cache. Always got downloaded but in the old UI it wasn't visible.

Can be turned of in the Steam settings, those little update go away then.

I don't mind the idea of the shader cache downloads, but it seems to happen an AWFUL lot, and repeatedly for many games. Practically daily for some.Just how often does a shader cache need to be updated, when the game itself might not have been updated by the publisher in weeks or months?

the downloads still are there. what issue do I get, when I disable shader cache? I read about things, from games throttling to games not even starting. I want smooth gameplay, but to be clear, those downloads get on my nerves. cant it be like before, so the shaders download in the background and dont land in "downloads"?

Because when they did, people would complain about the client apparently secretly using their data in the background for no reason while it downloaded the shaders. So we're back to having them visible again which brings along the complaints of seeing them in the downloads page. We can't have it both ways. How often are you watching the downloads page that it should make a difference whether or not that they are there?
