Why is there so many catfishes trying to scam me

There's plenty of scammers around using the same tricks. They're not going to go for something elaborate. They'll just have bots do basic phishing and get results that way.

Your inventory is public and you're part of a large number of groups = you're easily found and identified as a target.
Make your inventory private and they stop nagging.

If a method is tried and tested, why reinvent the wheel?

They throw them out towards masses and the few that fall for it are profit for them.
You have open profile & inventory. You basically have the door open and the scammer is trying to gain your attention and get your permission to let them in and steal your stuff.

Why do people commit scams? Because they're too lazy to get an actual job so they take the high reward, no sweat approach: crime.
