Horizon: Zero Dawn.
Red Dead Redemption 2.
Fast travel sucks in that game and the pawns never ever STFU, but the boss fights are cool. They do that spam attack on the last health bar thingy and try to cheap shot you though.
Ha ha ha evil laugh oh wow that game. A game that actually players have to learn how to play. Wow feels like old school gaming.
HZD oh my fave game of all the console generations. I never looked at it as a RPG though. I thought it was pretty game to whack/shoot robot dinosaurs in. If HZD qualifies as a RPG then I am adding Mad Max to the RPG list. That was a fun game also. Oh that last boss level though.
Great suggestion, Enderal should always be encouraged and it seems like exactly what the OP is looking for. @OP you do need Skyrim to play it, however, but if you do, it is a free total conversion mod that is excellent. Personally I thought the world building and writing were far superior to Skyrim.
Also, OP you may wanna check out Greedfall. I haven't tried it myself but it's AA open world RPG.

You can also maybe check out ELEX? I personally thought it was pretty meh, but you might like it.
The starting difficulty of Elex on the easiest setting is like playing Fallout 4 on very hard. Spent most of my time early on running away from everything ha ha ha.
First time hearing of enderal, will check it out ;)
The best thing is that it is free..
Soon you will get to enjoy Morrowind in a Skyrim engine as well.

I am not sure about that. We'd get to enjoy the Morrowind look, but not the Morrowind gameplay.
This is why I never really took to Skyoblivion. The Skyrim DLC so did not give me a Morrowind vibe. Even though the same isle was in Morrowind as in Skyrim.
You should read abit more about this project... This will have the morrowind feel in many fields! (Nothing will be completely like the original obviously)
If you like zombie games. Its completely open-world and has a huge emphasis on exploring for the sake of scavenging. It's very community management oriented though where you play as a group of survivors. Anyone can die and when they die it's permanent. Outside of story-mode all the survivors are randomly generated too with their own traits and sometimes hidden backstories. Likewise, some survivors are more useful than others (i.e. a doctor being more valuable than an alcoholic). But you'll always have a different playthrough in breakdown mode, which is basically free-play.
