[DISCUSSION] Unravel, Steam and Origin : Steam
What do you guys think of games, like Unravel, forcing players to open both Steam and Origin launchers?

Do you think Steam will lose customers over to Origin?

No. Many publishers with their own launchers have been doing this for years. EA isn't new or special, neither is Origin.

How is this anything new? Have you ever played a Ubisoft game?

:qr:
It's nothing new, games have had such requirements for years now. Origin, Uplay, etc.

They are not
Any game bought on Steam that requires Origin comes with a product key to fully activate on Origin. Which essentially means you could ditch Steam when playing said game.
Same for Ubisoft games with their Uplay launcher.

The only one that actually enforces to have both running is Rockstar with their Social Club Launcher

Why would they?

Do you guys enjoy having to open 2 launchers?
Origin has been the lightest of them all by far because it is a stripped down launcher rather than the normal one others use.

You can set it to close after game.
No idea why someone wants ea games on steam. Costs more, or you get less.

I got Unravel.

I think it's a good game.

However, it forces the player to open 2 launchers at once.

Steam and Origin, and you have to login for both.

I do not 'enjoy'. I 'tolerate' it. Except if it's going through epic, which means I will never, under any circumstance, buy said game.
Had to double check this wasn't a necro'd thread from 2013...
OP it's simpel. Do not buy games that have a secondary launcher if it bothers you so much. Problem solved.

And no, they are not losing customers to Origin. They GAIN customers that rather buy the games on steam only than on Origin only.
